Disclaimer

The data in the Canadian Patent Database contains bibliographic, text, and image data for Canadian patent documents filed or granted from 1920 to present. This database does not provide the full legal status of the patent documents, is not necessarily completely current, and could be missing some data. A "grace period" practice to allow mail to go through the system can delay information for at least six weeks and affect administrative status and maintenance fee information.

The database includes information acquired from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). CIPO is not responsible for the quality, accuracy, reliability or timeliness of information acquired from third parties.

This database is for information purposes only. For legal purposes, it is recommended that the relevant documents in the Patent Office be consulted. Business decisions should not be made based on this search alone.

Conditions of Use

The Canadian Patents Database is intended for use by the general public. Due to limitations of equipment and bandwidth, it is not intended to be a source for bulk downloads of Canadian patents data. Bulk data may be purchased from CIPO by contacting the Client Service Centre.

Clients who, in effect, deny service to the general public by generating unusually high numbers (1000 or more) of daily database accesses may be denied access to the Canadian Patents Database server without further notice.
