English Abstract

( ss. 21, 31, 34 and 142)
A B S T R A C T

Delivery of the daily newspaper is done in several ways.
In a suburban area papers are generally delivered to individual
households by schoolage children. In urban and city areas
a variety of housing situations makes delivery innovative
resulting in some special problems, one of which is theft.
The Anti-Theft Newspaper Holder addresses this problem as well
as the added advantage of protecting the newspaper from the
weather. The theft prevention device is a non-expanding
collar fastened at the top of a cylindrical stretchable
cloth bag about the width of the daily newspaper. rolled once.
When same is placed into the bag it expands to the limits of
the material and, when theft is attempted the newspaper
"catches" behind the non-expanding collar preventing further
removal - similiar to the barb on a fish hook which prevents
escape of the fish.
The Holder has a handle which allows it to be placed over an
entrance doorway knob. After placement the handle can be
narrowed to prevent theft by a drawstring which is threaded
through two "eyes" on the handle.
The Holder is made of good quality weather-resistant material
which is easily available preferably having some stretch
capabilities. The dimensions of the holder may vary depending
on the volume of the daily newspaper when it is formed into
a cylindrical shape for placing in same. Probably the week-end
edition would be the governing factor.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.
