English Abstract

This invention relates to a lubricating oil composition used in conjunction
with a gasoline fuel having a sulphur content of less than 10 ppm by weight,
characterised in that said oil composition has a phosphorus content of no more
than 0.05 % by weight. The feature of the invention is that the use of a low
sulphur fuel enables the amount of anti-wear agents containing phosphorus such
as eg ZDDP to be halved without any adverse effect on the antiwear performance
of the lubricating oil.

French Abstract

La présente invention concerne une composition d'huile de graissage utilisée en association avec un carburant présentant une teneur en soufre inférieure à 10 ppm en poids. Cette composition d'huile se caractérise en ce qu'elle contient une quantité de phosphore égale ou inférieure à 0,05 % en poids. L'intérêt de cette invention réside dans le fait que l'utilisation d'un carburant à faible teneur en soufre permet de réduire de moitié la quantité d'agents anti-usure contenant du phosphore, tels que, par exemple, du dialkyldithiophosphate de zinc (ZDDP), sans affecter les performances anti-usure de l'huile de graissage.
