English Abstract

A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising an ion detector 4 positioned upstream of a quadrupole mass filter/analyser 2. Ions are passed through the quadrupole mass filter/analyser 2, are stored in an ion trap and are then passed back through the same mass filter/analyser 2 before being detected by the upstream ion detector 4. MS/MS experiments can be performed using apparatus having only a single mass filter/analyser 2.

L'invention concerne un spectromètre comprenant un détecteur d'ions 4 placé en aval d'un filtre de masse quadripolaire/analyseur 2. Les ions sont passés dans le filtre de masse quadripolaire/analyseur 2, sont stockés dans le piège à ions et sont ensuite repassés dans le même filtre de masse/analyseur 2 avant d'être détectés par le détecteur d'ions en aval 4. Les expériences SM/SM peuvent être réalisées en utilisant un appareil n'ayant qu'un filtre de masse/analyseur 2.
