BACKGROUND OF T~E INVENTION

The pre~ent invention relates to a binding strap and, more
particularly, it relates to a binding strap made of a s~nthetic
resin and is suitable for use as an indicia tag.
Usually, when ~ubjecting furs and the like to various treat-
ment~, indicia tags are used in order to di~tinguish their type~,
their qualîties, their origins and other characteristics.
Heretobefore, when treating mink fur, indicia tags made of
aluminum have been used. In such cases, the tag is thxust through
the eye portion of the fur and is folded, and then a projection
at one terminal is in~erted into a hole at another terminal and
the projection is bent to fasten it, ~owever, such a metal tag
has various disadvantages. For instance, its manufacture is
~uite difficult and, sometimes, it flaws the fur and the process-
ability is inferior because some special tool has to be used in
order to attach the tag.
An object of the present inv ntion is to overcome the fore-
going di~advantages.
Another object of the invention is to provide a binding
strap which can easily be attach~d to an article at one touch
with an empty hand, without any specific tool.
Another object o the invention is to provide a binding ~trap
which can easily be manufactured by monoblock molding of synthetic
resin.
Another object o the invention is to provide a binding strap
which can easily be thrust through an opening of an article, such
as the eye portion of a mink fur, without damage to the fur at
one touch with an empty hand, and can safely and positively be
attached thereto.

A Eurther object of the invention is to provide a binding
strap which can be used as a classification mark or a discrimina-
tion mark by providing an indicia by means of letters or æigns on
the surface thereof.
The aforesaid objects and other objects and advantages of
the invention will become more apparent from the following
descriptionO
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The binding strap of the invention is entirely made of a
10 synthetic resin body and has a folding portion at its center,
a hole with fastening pieces at one end and a projection at the
other end to be inserted and fastened in the said hole.
The binding strap of the invention usually is of long,
slender and flat form and is used as an indicia tag with various
indicia on its surface. It is easily and positively attached to
an article at one touch with an empty hand by thrusting it through
an opening of the article, folding it at the center and inserting
the projection into ~he hole.
The hole in the binding strap is provided with elastic
fastening pieces around it and each of the fastening pieces is
usually in the form of a tongue or a projecting brimO On the
other hand, the projection at the other end of ~he binding strap
usually is provided with a larger head at its tipo When inserting
the projection in the hole, the head extends elastically into the
fastening pieces, and after entirely inserting the head, the
fastening pieces return to normal, and thareby the projection is
positively fastened.
The binding strap preferably has a guide 1uke at the end
portion in order ~o easily thrust it through an opening of an

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
In Figs. 1 through 3, in which the first embodiment of the
binding strap of the invention is shown, the binding strap 1 i5
manufactured by molding a synthetic resin body comprising a firs~
portion 2 and a second portion 3O A thin folding portion 4 i9 at
their center, and the first portion 2 and the second portion 3 -
are piled on each other by folding at the folding portion 4.
As raw materials for manufacturing the binding strap, many
kinds of synthetic resins may be used. Among th~m, nylon is a
most preferable resin~ and other flexible synthetic resins such
as polypropylene and polyethylene are also suitableO
In the first portion 2, a first joining portion 5, at
which tongue-shaped pieces are arranged circularly, is providedg
and in the second portion 3, a second joining portion 6 having
a projection which is complementary to the first joining portion
5 is provided.
As shown in Figs. 4A, 4B and 4C, at the second joining
portion 6, pillar 6a and head 6a' are providedO The pillar 6a ;
i~ composed of a cylindrical portion 6a' and a wall 6a" over-
hung to both sides thereofO
The first portion 2 is a portion at which indicia 7 with
letters, symbols and ~he like is provided by optional means.
For the indicia 7, various means such as printing and
embossing can be used.
When using the binding strap 1, it is thrust throuyh an
opening of an article and is folded at the folding portion 4 and
then the first joining portion 5 and the second joining portion
6 are joined to each othar as shown in FigO ~O
In this case, the head 6b of the second joining portion 6
is pushed into the fastening tongue-shaped pieces 5b whi~h are
overhung around the hole 5a to be fastenedO The fastening piece
5b has inclined lower part 5c 90 as to easily push the conical
head 6b of the second joining portion into the fastening pieces
5b.
In Fig.~ in which the second embodiment of the binding
strap of the invention is shown, a first portion 12 of a binding
strap 11 has a frame portion 18,so as to guard indicia 17 and to
give a reinforcing effect to the first portion 12. The binding
strap shown in Fig.~ is the same as in F g. 1 but a frame portion
is provided in the binding trap of FigOf~ -
In the above embodiments, indicia are provided only at the
first portions 2, 12~ but indicia can also be provided at the
second portions 3, 13, and can also be provided by coloring the
binding straps 1~ 11.
In FigsO 7 through 11 in which a third embodiment of the
binding strap of the invention is shown, hole 25 around which are
elastically extendible projecting rims 25a which together with
the hole 25 constitute a first joining portion is provided near
the end of a first portion 22 of the binding strap 21 as shown
in Figs. lOA and lOB~ and projection 26 which constitutes a
second joining portion is provided near the end of a second
portion 230 When the binding strap 21 is folded at the ~olding
portion 24, the projection 26 is inserted and fastened in the
hole 25. The rims 25a of the hole 25 have inclined lower parts :~
25b so as to easily insert therein the pxojection 260 Preferably,
there are provided at the projection 26, crescent shaped gaps
26a which make rapping easy after molding, and a central hole
26b which increases elasticity when inserting into the hole 25

The binding strap has a guide fluke 22a at the end of ~ -:
the first portion 22 in order to easily thrust it through an
opening of an article such as the eye portion of a furO The
guide fluke can be provided not only at the end of the first
portlon 22 but also at the end of the second portion 23, or can
be provided at the end of the second portion 23 onlyO
On both surfaces of the first portion 22 and of the second
portion 23, indicia can be appliedO
When using the binding strap 21 of this embodiment, it is
thrust through an opening of an article by inserting the guide
fluke 22a of the first portion therein and is folded at the
folding portion 24 and then, as shown in FigO 11~ the projection
of the second p~rtion 23 is inserted into the hole 25 of the
first portion 22 to be fastenedO
Of course, whenusing a binding strap having a guide fluke
at the second portion 239 it is inserted from the guide portionO ~ :
In this embodiment, it is quite easy to thrust the binding strap
through an opening of an article by the action of the guide
fluke 22a at the end thereof~ so that even when the binding strap
21 is thrust through a n~rrow opening such as an eye portion of
a fur, it does not damage the body of the furO Moreover, the
binding strap of this embodiment shows a better joining property
and is more easily molded in comparison with those of the above
two embodiments.
The binding -~traps 1, 11, 21 can also be used as hangers.
For instance, holes may be made in both the first portions 2,
12, 22 and the second portions 3, 13, 23 of the binding strap,
and the holes may be utilized for hanging articles.

According to the invention, as mentioned previously, thebinding strap can easily be manufactured by monobloc molding o
synthetic resin and can easily be thrust through an opening of an
article at one touch with an empty hand and without any special
tool, to be safetly and positively attached thereto and can be
used as a classification mark or a discrimination mark by pro-
viding indicia by means of letters or signs on the surface
thereofO
Moreover, the binding strap of the invention can be
utilized for hanging articl~s and for various other usesO
