English Abstract

ABSTRACT
The invention deals with a new pharmaceutical product with
blood-arresting and inflammation-retarding effects, suitable
for treatmens of wounds and inflammations of the skin and mu-
cous membranes. The purpose of the invention is to present a
substance which quickli achieve outstanding compatibility and
excellent adherence upon application. The invention rests upon
the specifically discovered composition of ingridients. It shows
a comparatively low pH value and a comparatively high osmotic
pressure. The remedy contains compatible mineral salts, tannin,
glycerine and pectin as active ingredients and has been te-
sted very successfully in the clinic.

Pharmaceutical Product Containin~
Mineral Salts, Pectin and Tannin
_
The invention concerns a remedy with blood-arresting and inflammation retard-
ing effects, suitable for treatments of wounds & inflammations of the skin and
mucous membranes, consisting of ingredients indicated in this request.
The astringent and tanning qualities of Tannin are long known, yet the pre-
sently marketed inflammation-retarding remedies practically do not use these qual-
ities. The now known current blood-arresting remedies predominantly use Vaso-con-
stringents such as Adrenalines & Noradrenalines, then blood-clotting Agents such`~ as Thrombines & Fibrinogens and also absorbent substances like Oxycellulose and
; gelatinous sponges as well. The bases of marketed inflammation retarding anti-
;` 10 phlogistica are mostly Corticost~roids, Pyrazolidins and Bacterio-Statica of the
types Antibiotica and Sulfonamides.
B These notorious remedies for blood-arresting and inflammation retarding have
n~m~erous side-effects, especially in treatments of Oral mucous membranes in Den-
tist's Practice. For instance, the substances applied to the Paradontium are
readily diluted by saliva; therefore the healing effect depends in these cases
highly on the adhesive property of the remedy, wha~ the presently marketed pro-
.,
ducts do not have. As a rule these products require a long-term application to be
efficient. After such tlme and if an improvement shows up, as soon as the applica-
tion of the product is discontinued, often a relapse of the malady takes place fol-
lowed by damages to the mucous membrane such as shrinking and allergies. In thisway much of the beneficial oral Flora is killed and if Bacteriostatica is applied,
problems arise in limited spectra of results and also in the field of Resistanceand Sensibillsation.
; The task of this invention is to offer a blood-arresting and inflammation

~ retar~ing Remedy for treatment of the skin and the mucous membranes with a cvood
adhesive quality, excellent compatibility and quick healing efficiency of mucous
membranes which would even at prolonged treatment remain harmless and so be espec-
ially suitable for healing of Paradontop-athies and Stomatids.
The invention rests upon the specifically discovered composition of ingred-
ients. It shows a comparatively low pH value and a comparatively high osmotic
pressure.
The pH value is between 3.8 c~nd 4.8; the osmotic pressure is approx. 14 to
30 at.
Although, for instance "Hager's Handbook of the pharmaceutical practice, Vol.
I, Berlin 1949, Page 235" indicates that a resorptive intake of Tannin may produce
side-eEfects, such effects were never observed at applications of the here des-
cribed invented remedy with a content of Tannin as low as 1%.
Though it was to be expected that Tannin's astri~gent properties would have
a blood-arresting effect (as indicated in B. Helwig's Modern Remedies, Stuttgart
1972, Page 784) but it came as a surprise to observe a particularly favorable and
prompt inflammations-retarding effect. Experiments showed that an application of
Tannin alone had no healing effect, not even when blended with Na2HP04/MgC12.
This proves that this surprising healing property has to be attributed to the spe-
cific combination of all ingredients together.
While cases of Parodontopathies and Stomatids treated with other currently
obtainable remedies required several days to start showing effects, the here pro-
posed invention of a composition Remedy took a very short time, mostly just some
minutes to start showing blood arresting or inflammation retarding effects.
The invented Remedy has a consistency similar to an Emulsion, Paste, Creme
or Ointment. Pectin has been found a good binding agent with excellent adhesion
- to mucous membranes.

~ For the preparation of the invented Remedy the usual pharmaceutical Methods
of Blending and Incorporating o-f components are followed. The procedure starts
from the here listed components which are added in pre mixed form and according to
trade practices.
The invented Remedy is particularly good for bleeding and inflammation of vag-
inal and oral mucous membranes including inflammations of allergic origin.
When applied in cases of Parodonthopathy or Stomatids in the mouth of a Pa-
tient, the Paste cannot be noticed by others because of its Jelly like appearance.
