WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION:
(1) A device for carrying out various machining
functions in situ on equipment such as boring, resurfacing,
grinding and the like; comprising in combination with a source
of power, a tool bar rotatable by said source of power, tool
holding means on said tool bar, a bearing assembly mounting
said tool bar for rotation by said source of power, at least
one universal attachment block assembly securable to said de-
vice and being detachably securable to the equipment being
worked upon, said universal attachment block assembly position-
ing said tool bar in the desired planes for the machining
function desired.
(2) The device according to Claim 1 which includes
support structure supporting said source of power and a gear
box operatively connected between said source of power and
said rotatable tool bar.
(3) The device according to Claim 1 which includes
means to move said tool bar lengthwise relative to said bear-
ing assembly for positioning said tool bar relative to the machin-
ing function being carried out.
(4) The device according to Claim 2 which includes
means to move said tool bar lengthwise relative to said gear
box for positioning same relative to the machining function be-
ing carried out.
(5) The device according to Claim 1 in which said
universal attachment block assembly includes a multiapertured

block including at least two apertures extending through said
block at right angles to one another but with the longitudinal
axes of each aperture being spaced apart from one another, a
first member slidably and rotatably mounted within one of said
apertures for detachable securement by one end thereof to said
device and a second member slidably and rotatably mounted with-
in the other of said apertures for detachable securement by one
end thereof to the equipment being worked upon and clamp means
in said block for detachably clamping each of said members in-
dependently in the desired relationship relative to said block.
(6) The device according to Claim 2 in which said
universal attachment block assembly includes a multiapertured
block including at least two apertures extending through said
block at right angles to one another but with the longitudinal
axes of each aperture being spaced apart from one another, a
first member slidably and rotatably mounted within one of said
apertures for detachable securement by one end thereof to said
device and a second member slidably and rotatably mounted with-
in the other of said apertures for detachable securement by one
end thereof to the equipment being worked upon and clamp means
in said block for detachably clamping each of said members in-
dependently in the desired relationship relative to said block.
(7) The device according to Claim 3 in which said
universal attachment block assembly includes a multiapertured
block including at least two apertures extending through said
block at right angles to one another but with the longitudinal

axes of each aperture being spaced apart from one another, a
first member slidably and rotatably mounted within one of said
apertures for detachable securement by one end thereof to said
device and a second member slidably and rotatably mounted with-
in the other of said apertures for detachable securement by one
end thereof to the equipment being worked upon and clamp means
in said block for detachably clamping each of said members in-
dependently in the desired relationship relative to said block.
(8) The device according to Claim 4 in which said
universal attachment block assembly includes a multiapertured
block including at least two apertures extending through said
block at right angles to one another but with the longitudinal.
axes of each aperture being spaced apart from one another, a
first member slidably and rotatably mounted within one of said
apertures for detachable securement by one end thereof to said
device and a second member slidably and rotatably mounted with-
in the other of said apertures for detachable securement by one
end thereof to the equipment being worked upon and clamp means
in said block for detachably clamping each of said members in-
dependently in the desired relationship relative to said block.
(9) The invention according to Claim 3 in which said
means to move said tool bar lengthwise relative to said bearing
assembly includes a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly in-
cluding a piston rod, the piston rod of said piston and cylin-
der assembly being secured by one end thereof to one end of
said tool bar whereby extension and retraction of said piston

and cylinder assembly extends and retracts said tool bar
lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(10) The invention according to Claim 4 in which
said means includes a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly
including a piston rod, the piston rod of said piston and cy-
linder assembly being secured by one end thereof to one end of
said tool bar whereby extension and retraction of said piston
and cylinder assembly extends and retracts said tool bar
lengthwise relative to said gear box.
(11) The device according to Claim 4 in which said
means includes a keyway formed along the length of said tool
bar operatively connecting said tool bar to said gear box for
lengthwise movement of said tool bar relative to said gear box
and a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly mounted upon said
gear box and being operatively connected to said tool bar
whereby extension and retraction of said piston and cylinder
assembly extends and retracts said tool bar relative to said
gear box.
(12) The device according to Claim 8 in which said
means includes a keyway formed along the length of said tool
bar operatively connecting said tool bar to said gear box for
lengthwise movement of said tool bar relative to said gear box
and a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly mounted upon said
gear box and being operatively connected to said tool bar
whereby extension and retraction of said piston and cylinder
assembly extends and retracts said tool bar relative to said

gear box.
(13) The invention according to Claim 1 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest assembly
supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing assembly
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing.
(14) The invention according to Claim 2 in which
said supporting structure includes an upper main bearing plate
and a lower mounting plate, a plurality of guide bars extend-
ing between said plates and mounting same in spaced apart
parallel relationship one with the other, said bearing assem-
bly being supported within said main bearing plate, a lower
steady rest assembly supported by said guide bars spaced below
said bearing assembly and a steady rest bearing in said steady
rest assembly, a cutter head mounted on the lower end of said
cutter bar, said cutter bar being supported for rotation with-
in said bearing assembly, said cutter head being supported for
rotation within said steady rest bearing.

(15) The invention according to Claim 3 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest assembly
supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing assembly
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(16) The invention according to Claim 4 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel rela-
tionship one with the other, said bearing assembly being sup-
ported within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest as-
sembly supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing
assembly and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assem-
bly, a cutter head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar,
said cutter bar being supported for rotation within said bear-

ing assembly, said cutter head being supported for rotation
within said steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly
being supported for sliding movement along said guide bars
as said tool bar is moved lengthwise relative to said bearing
assembly.
(17) The invention according to Claim 5 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest assembly
supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing assembly
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing.
(18) The invention according to Claim 6 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest assembly
supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing assembly

and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing.
(19) The invention according to Claim 7 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
within said main bearing plate, a lower steady rest assembly
supported by said guide bars spaced below said bearing assembly
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(20) The invention according to Claim 8 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported

and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(21) The invention according to Claim 9 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(22) The invention according to Claim 10 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported

and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(23) The invention according to Claim 11 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported
and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cutter
head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cutter
bar being supported for rotation within said bearing assembly,
said cutter head being supported for rotation within said
steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being supported
for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool bar is
moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
(24) The invention according to Claim 12 which in-
cludes supporting structure for said device, said supporting
structure including an upper main bearing plate and a lower
main bearing plate, a plurality of guide bars extending between
said plates and mounting same in spaced apart parallel relation-
ship one with the other, said bearing assembly being supported

and a steady rest bearing in said steady rest assembly, a cut-
ter head mounted on the lower end of said cutter bar, said cut-
ter bar being supported for rotation within said bearing as-
sembly, said cutter head being supported for rotation within
said steady rest bearing, said steady rest assembly being sup-
ported for sliding movement along said guide bars as said tool
bar is moved lengthwise relative to said bearing assembly.
