English Abstract

abstract
The "SANI-SCOOP" is manually operated tool for convenient? and quickly
picking up dog excrement. It is known to have a trap door which is
normally closed when not in use, but will open automatically when in use
to allow the dog excrement to pass through and to be received into an
attached disposable plastic holding bag.
The design of the tool is such that a handle enables the user to place
the operating head to the ground just behind the dog excrement to be picked
up, whereby the weight of the tool will activate the opening mechanism of
the trap door. A forward sweep of the tool by the user will dispose the
dog excrement into the disposable plastic holding bag. When the tool is
lifted from the ground, the trap door will automatically close and seal off
the opening to the holding bag. The faster the forward sweep of the tool,
the less chance there will be of dog excrement collecting on the operating
head. If some excrement collection does occur, it will be easily removed
by first removing the disposable plastic holding bag and then placing the
head of the tool into a domestic toilet, whereby one or two flushings will
remove any excrement that may have collected. By installing a new disposable
plastic holding bag, the tool will then be ready for its's next usage.

CLAIMS IN REFERENCE TO THE SANI-SCOOP TOOL SUBMITTED UNDER
APPLICATION FOR PATENT
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive
property or privilige is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A refuse collection device comprising in combination
an elongated handle, a scoop mounted at one end of
said handle, said scoop being in the form of a
container open at both ends, a trap door covering one
end of said scoop, means mounted on said container
adapted to slidably open said trap door when placed
on the ground.
2. The refuse collection device of claim 1 wherein said
scoop has a raised skirt at the other end of the
container to retain a holding bag.
3. The refuse collection device of claim 1 wherein said
means for opening said trap door comprises in
combination a sleeve attached at both sides of said
container and guide arms attached to said trap door,
slidably mounted in said sleeves.
4. The refuse collection device of claim 3 wherein said
scoop has a raised skirt at the other end of the
container to retain a holding bag and said guide arms
have a bracing member spanning their lower distal ends
while the trap door spans their upper distal ends.
5. The refuse collection device of claim 4 wherein said
container is in the shape of an inverted U attached at

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

~h-s i~vention relates to the ever increasin3 need to clsan up the
enviroment o~ dog excrement, The"SANI~SCOOP" can be made to variable
di~ænsions in order.to~suit the difforent sizes in dog~population.
It can be ~abrica~ed of pla~tic or metal and can be fitted with a
fixed or telescopic handle. However, if a telescopic handle is used,
th2 handle must-be 9uch that it will maintain a firm and rigid position
when the operating head is in use. A convenient length of the handle for
normal u9age would be ~ measurement of twenty one inches. There is no
lubrication required for the mechanical part~ of the operating head.
The disposable plastic holding bag-may be J~cured to the operating head
of the tool by either a draw string or elastic band for convenient release
of the bag from the-tool. The size of the disposable plastic holding bag
will-be in accordance with the dimensions suited to the variable sizes
that-tne tool can be made. The draw string will be-incorporated in the
nPc~ o the holding bag.and will be of sufficient length to allow for
dra~ing and tie off. The elastic band will likewise be installed to the
holding bag and with sufficient tension to secure the holding bag to the
tool~ The elastic b~nd will ha~e A tab extension to provide easy removal
of the holding bag~from the-~tool. For obvious reason, the holding bag
will be made of non-transparent plastic material.
