English Abstract

A B S T R A C T
A cultivating device for plows which is formed
without a so-called land side, and thus creates a self-
balancing effect on the tool, which thereby can be moved
forwards with only slight resistance. The cultivating device
for the plow is so constructed and arranged to create a turn-
ing moment about the connecting point to a towing vehicle
with the turning moment determining the working width of
the tool.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

The embodiments of the invention in which an
exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined
as follows:
1. In a cultivating device for plows which com-
prises a holder intended to be fastened to a beam on said
plow, the improvement comprising an exchangeable wear plate
having a flat part which extends obliquely downwardly and
forwardly from the holder, the flat part of said wear part
being directed mainly forward, said wear plate having a
relatively small width and wherein the flat part of said
wear plate is inclined at a certain angle of inclination
.alpha. in the range of 60°-80° with respect to the direction
of movement.
2. A cultivating device as claimed in claim 1
wherein said holder comprises a flat side part, and further
comprising fastening means for securing said flat side
part to said beam, and the oblique edge of said flat side
part extending rearwardly and upwardly and being provided
with a flange that has means to fasten said wear plate
to said holder.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

11~3209
This invention relates to a cultivating device
for plows which comprises a holder intended to be fastened
to a beam on the plow and to receive a plate-shaped exchange-
able wear part, which extends obliquely both downwardly and
forwardly from the holder, the flat side of the wear part
being directed mainly in a forward direction.
Cultivating plows are known,
The purpose of these devices is to adapt a
plow to other operation than just plowing, and preferably
to a treatment which is more surface-related. Such a treat-
ment has been shown to be sufficient as complementary to
plowing, on some occasions.
In devices of the above type, as well as in conven-
tional plows, there is a so-called land side, i.e. a side
which is moved parallel to the direction of movement of the
cultivating device. The purpose of this side is to contri-
bute to maintaining the device in the right directlon behind
the towing vehicle, and to neutralize the side forces which
are created by the mold board. This is particularly important
; for semi-mounted plows, which are connected to the towing
vehicle by a single bearing and towing point.
A feature of the present invention is to provide
a simple and inexpensive cultivating device which can be
2S fastened to a conventional plow, and which is self-balanced
and provides the intended worl~ing wiclth without using a par-
ticular land side.
In order that the invention will be more clearly
; ullderstood, it will now be disclosed in greater cletail with
reference to the accompanyin~ drawin~s, in which~
.. ,

3;2(~9
FIG. 1 is a side elevation view showing a com-
plete cultivating device in accordance with the invention.
FIG. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1 but showing
the holder in the cultivatlng device, and
FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along the line
III-III of FIG. 2.
As seen in the figures, the cult;vating device
of the present invention comprises a holder which is refer-
red to generally by the reference numeral 10. The holder
10 is secured to a beam 11 by means of bolts 12. The beam
is fastened to a plow frame in a conventional manner (not
shown). The holder consists of a side part 13 with holes
14 for the bolts 12, and has a front edge 15 which extends
in a rearward and upward direction, and continues into
a flange 16 in its lower area. The flange 16 has holes
17 through which bolts 18 for a plate-shaped wear part
19 can be inserted. The wear part 19 extends in a forward
and downward direction from the holder, and is bevelled
on its outer end, and also on its inner end. The wear
; 20 plate 19 can be turned when it has become worn, so that
. the unused end can be used.
As appears from FIG. 3, the angle ~ between
the side part 13, which is parallel to the direction of
movement F, and the flange 16 is less than 90, preferably
60-80. The holder with the side part 13 only serves as
a means to fasten the wear part 19 to the beam 11, and
thus does not work as a land side. Thus, when using the
plow for cultivating, the wear part is inclined with
respect to the directlon of movement thereby neutralizing
the side forces.
