connection both of their manufacturing and of their use in order to
ensure the quality of the material. Materials of this type which
are manufactured in web form are e.g. viscose, cellulose, paper,
cardboard, fabric, and equivalent materials of which the character-
i3tiC9 should be constant and uniform in quality.
when procedure end apparatus known in the art are being applied,
these sty are performed by trained examiner in a separate, us-
ally air-conditioned laboratory, to which the samples are conveyed.
The samples are tasted with a separate testing device made for each
characteristic. Of the replicate measurements of the particular
characteristic, obtained with each device, the means and standard
deviation are calculated and the results are used in controlling
the quality.
In connection with manufacturing it particular, the test result
should be made available for us as soon a over possible, but -when
in procedures and devices known in the art it may take a long
time before the text roulettes are available. Present procedures and
device have furthermore the drawback thaw they require an air-con-
ditioned laboratory room and special personnel to make the test
and to treat the results. Moreover the characteristic of the
ample may ah Noah while the sample is brine transported and manipu-
latticed for the various testing devices. furthermore, existing text-
in device are separate and an individual sample has to be pro-
pared for each testing device. Moreover, e~istins apparatus it
