English Abstract

LINIMENT CONTAINING NETTLE PLANT EXTRACT
A. ABSTRACT
This invention relates to a liniment derived from the natural
botanical herb, Nettle. It is mixed with isopropyl alcohol to
make an extract called "PETER'S AID". This liniment is for
external use only and is applied with a cotton ball to the sore
spot of the body and then rubbed in a little with the hand. It
helps to ease soreness due to arthritis and/or cramps. Use
daily if needed.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

C. CLAIM
1. A liniment composition comprising isopropyl alcohol (70-
80%) containing (20-30%) of active ingredient which com-
prises extract of young nettle plants soluble in
isopropyl alcohol.
2. The liniment of Claim 1 for external application only.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

B. SPECIFICATIONS
To manufacture this liniment, the use of young green Nettle
about two months old and about 8 to 10 inches tall is required.
The wearing of rubber gloves while cutting the herb is
recommended. A knife is required to cut the herb at the base
of the stem 1" above the ground. Check for quality by taking
off the bottom yellow leaves. Wash the Nettle with cold water
and shake to remove excess moisture if needed. Place the
Nettle in a clean plastic pail or glass bottle. Fill this
container with isopropyl alcohol (99%) ensuring that the
Nettle is well covered with alcohol. Cap the container with
an airtight seal and let it s-tand for 2 - 3 weeks until the
alcohol becomes green in colour. Drain -the alcohol and press
the Nettle in a stainless steel press. Combine all of the
alcohol extracts. Extraction of the Nettle decreases alcohol's
strength to 70 - 80% and Nettle's concentration will be 20 -30%
active ingredient. Filter the extract ensuring that all plant
debris is removed. This may require 2 or more filtrations.
Check the concentration with a hydrometer to ensure that the
strength is as required. If there is too much Nettle extract,
dilute with pure alcohol in the required amount. Liniment is
now ready to be bottled and labelled.
