English Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
The invention relates to a large volume pallet container
with base pallet (100), inner plastic container (12) and
outer supporting casing (30). These pallet containers are
usually very solidly built with stable heavy frame
structures. An economical, lightweight construction with
easily disposable individual components is desirable,
particularly for non-returnable containers. To obtain a
lightweight pallet container which nevertheless possesses the
stiffness and strength needed to counteract the tendency to
bulge when filled, the invention proposes that the upper rim
of the thin-walled plastic inner container (12) be
interlocked with the pulp casing, which consists of rolled
kraft paper, by means of an overlapping flanged ring (46).
The bottom of the pulp casing (30) is inserted in a circular
groove (74) in the surface of the plastic pallet (100) and is
thereby mixed in the radial direction as well.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Amended Claim
(in the International Office on 10 October 1991 (10.10.91);
the original claims 1 to 7 replaced by amended claim 1;
claims 8 to 15 renumbered to be 7 to 14;
remaining claims unchanged)
1. A palette container with a lower palette, with an inner
plastic container with a filler opening and a base removal
valve arranged thereon and with an outer reinforcing casing that
lies closely against the plastic container and encloses this,
characterized in that the upper peripheral area of the plastic
container (12) is connected by force and/or shaped fit with the
upper edge of the reinforcing casing (14) and a yielding or
flexing of the thin-walled container (12) in a radial direction
outwards or inwards is prevented, and the lower edge (76) of the
reinforcing material (14) is inserted into a circular groove (74
that is formed in the surface of the palette (10), and is in a
similar way configured so as to be fixed in a radial direction.

2. Pallet container according to claim 1, wherein the upper
peripheral area (44) of the plastic container (12) bears a
vertically erect, peripheral flange ring (82) which extends
axially and is fastened, for example by means of screws (94)
or rivets, to the inner wall or upper edge (50) of the
reinforcing jacket (30, 14) (Fig. 8).
3. Pallet container according to one of the foregoing claims
1 and 2, wherein the reinforcing jacket (14) is fastened to
the pallet (10) by means of angular hooks (84) spread at
equal intervals on the periphery, so that their upper hook
part (86) fits into corresponding depressions (88) of the
lower part of the cardboard jacket (30), or cover a
transverse metal bar of the grid jacket (24), whereas their
lower outer angles (90) are attached by appropriate fastening
means such as screws (92) onto the upper surface of the
pallet (10).
4. Pallet container according to one of the foregoing claims
1, 2 and 3, wherein the reinforcing jacket (14) is made in
form of a grid jacket (24) with vertical and horizontal metal
bars (Fig. 2).
5. Pallet container according to one of the foregoing claims
1 through 4, wherein the reinforcing jacket (14) consists of
fibre tube or kraftliner made up of a number of kraft paper
sheets wound and glued together (Fig. 3, 12, 13).
6. Pallet container according to claim 5, wherein the
cardboard jacket (30) bears a number of windows (32) (for
example, holes) located one above the other and serving for
visually inspecting the level of material in the plastic
container (12) (Fig. 3, 12, 13).
7. Pallet container according to one of the foregoing claims
1 through 6, wherein the comparatively thin-walled plastic

container (12) and the superimposed reinforcing jacket (14),
viewed in cross section, have on each straight side of the
pallet (10) a sector (16) with straight walls (18) and in
every corner area of the pallet (10), a sector (20) with
circular walls (22).
8. Pallet container according to claim 7, wherein every
sector (16) with straight walls (18) is less or equal to 45°,
preferably between 35° and 10°, and every sector (20) with
circular walls (22) is equal or larger than 45°, preferably
between 55° and 80° (Fig. 1).
9. Pallet container according to one of the foregoing claims
1 through 6, wherein the comparatively thin-walled plastic
container (12) and the superimposed reinforcing jacket (14),
viewed in cross section, have on every straight side of the
pallet (10) a sector (16') of ? 60° with walls bulging
slightly outward (18'), and a sector (20') of ? 30° with
comparatively strongly curved circular walls (22') (Fig. 13).
