^` 2~96~76
This is a highway safety device designed for motorists in
distress. In this invention, a one - piece retangular lighting
unit, incorporated as part of a car's electrical system, i~
installed on the auto's rear dash board. This unit will be
electronically functioned to flash a message to notify other
vehicles of an emergency; EG: CALL 911 (a universal message).
The unit, as stated above, is part of the vehicle's electrical
system, and derives it's power from this.
The invention will take the place of the third brake light now in
operation in most vehicles, and is used in conjunction; by the
flick of a switch, or push of a button, to change from a solid
red stop 1 ight to a message board .
As far as known, there are no emergency units of this nature in
existence, and due to safety precautions on both the driver 15
part and other motorists, it would act as a beacon to request
emergency service while the driver remains in the car. Many
accidents, some resulting in death, have been reported due to the
owner getting out of the car on heavily trafficed highways.
In drawings which illustrate embodiments of the inventions, D-l,
is a drawing showing front, back, and side elevations with
sizing, part numberings, and first and second functions; D-2,
shows the location (where it will be placed within the car);
Legend pertaining to part numberings in D-l, and all electrical
functions that pertains to first and second functions in D-l; D-
3, is a troubleshooting guide for any electrical malfunctions.
The product illustrated comprises of a rectangular one-piece unit
that is permanently mounted at the rear of any and all motor
vehicles to replace the third brake light now in existence; see-
Location of, D-2. The Legend shows a P.V.C. Cover (1), a series
of LED Lights (2) which is a solid red, and is the third brake
light, to function on and off at the application of the brake.
In emergency, the flick of a switch or the push of a button turns
the brake light off and sends a flashing message CALL 911, in two
separate functions (Universal Message), see D-l and D-2. The
product comes equipped with a special Lens (3) to aid in creating
a higher degree of magnification of the lighting system. This is
operated by an Electronic Emergency Unit (4) which receives its
power from a Cable (5) connected to the elecrical system of the
car.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property
or privilege is claimed are defined as follows.
