ANTITHEFT APPARATUS
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
An antitheft apparatus has a control unit, a
locking device, a lock, a vibration detector, a
microswitch, a loud speaker, and a remote control. The
locking device, having a solenoid which has an
actuating rod at one end thereof, and a transmission
rod connected between the actuating rod and a lock,
allows the lock to be opened only if the solenoid
thereof is actuated. The remote control is allowed to
emit a door opening command to the control unit which
in turn actuates the solenoid of the locking device and
opens the lock. The microswitch is engaged to the
actuating rod thus when the actuating rod retracts, the
microswitch will respond to generate a door opening
signal to the control unit. The control unit determines
to actuate the loud speaker to alarm if the door
opening is not from the command from the remote con-
trol.

9 It is an object of the present invention to
provide an antitheft apparatus having a control unit, a
11 locking means, a lock, a vibration detector, a ~;
12 microswitch, a loud speaker, and a remote control. The
13 locking means having a solenoid which has an actuating ~ ;14 rod at one end thereof, and a transmission rod
connected between the actuating rod and a lock allows
16 to open the lock if only the solenoid thereof is
17 actuated. The remote control is allowed to emit a door
18 opening command to the control unit which in turn
19 actuates the solenoid of the locking means and opens
the lock. The microswitch is engaged to the actuating
21 rod of the solenoid thus when the actuating rod -
22 reciprocates, the microswitch will respond to generate
23 a door opening signal to the control unit. The control
24 unit determines to actuate the loud speaker to alarm
the owner, etc., if the door opening is not from the

1 means 2, a lock 3, a vibration detector 4, a loud
2 speaker 5, and a remote control 6. The control unit 1
3 comprises a microprocessor, a radio receiver, and an
4 alarming circuit. The locking means 2 is used to control
the lock 3. The vibration detector 4 is used to detect
6 the vibration from the door or window to which the lock
7 3 is attached. The alarming circuit of the control unit
8 1 is electrically connected to the loud speaker 5 for
9 actuating the latter to emit alarming sound when a
thief invades. The remote control 6 is allowed to set
11 the whole antitheft apparatus in a guarding status
12 where the vibrating detector 4 is actuated and a
13 guarding program inside the control unit 1 is actuated
14 to serve as a commander for the sequential operation.
When the owner of the house goes out, he merely sets
16 the antitheft apparatus to the guarding status by
17 operating on the remote control 6, therefore the
18 vibration d~tector 4 starts to detect vibrations from
19 any invading action from a thief and causes the loud
speaker 5 to emit alarming sound. When the owner comes
21 home, he merely operates an opening key (not shown) of
22 the remote control 6 causing the control unit 1 to
23 enable the locking means 2 to set the lock 3 to an
24 unlocked status.
Referring to Fig. 2, the locking means 2 and the
26 vibration detector 4 are installed inside a housing 10.
27 The locking means 2 comprises a solenoid 11 having an
28 actuating rod 12 at one end thereof allowed to

1 reciprocate for one cycle in the longitudinal direction
2 thereof and a transmission rod 13 connected to the
3 actuating rod 12 at the end thereof. The housing 10 has
4 a slot 100 allowing the transmission rod 13 to pass
therethrough. Normally the actuating rod 12 of the
6 solenoid 11 is in a first position as shown in Figs. 2
7 and 3. However, when the solenoid 11 is actuated the
8 actuating rod 12 thereof will be retracted to a second
9 position as shown in Fig. 4. A microswitch 14 is
engaged to the transmission rod 13 and controlled by
11 the latter. Normally the actuating rod 12 of the sole-
12 noid 11 is in the first position. However, when the
13 solenoid 11 is actuated by the control unit 1, the
14 actuating rod 12 thereof is retracted, which in turn
pulls the transmission rod 13 in a direction to the
16 solenoid 11, thereby releasing the first lock 20 as
17 shown in Fig. 4. When the transmission rod 13 is pulled
18 in a leftward direction, the microswitch 14 is
19 actuated, therefore a door opening signal is sent to
the control unit l. After the control unit 1 receives
21 the door opening signal it will check whether the door
22 opening is caused by the remote control signal, if
23 positive, the guarding program of the control unit 1
24 will not actuate the alarming circuit thereof, if
negative the guarding program of the control unit l
26 will actuate the alarming circuit thereof to enable the
27 loud speaker 5 to emit alarming sound. A power switch
28 19 is installed in the housing 10 allowing to operate

1 thereon for turning ON/OFF power supplying to the
2 antitheft apparatus.
3 The left side of Fig. 3 illustrates a schematic
4 plane view of a conventional first lock 20 which is the
so-called rim lock. The first lock 20 comprises a
6 casing 200, a sliding rod 21 allowed to slide therein,
7 a socket 22 fixed to the casing 200 allowing the
8 sliding rod 21 to slide therethrough, a spring 23
9 having a first end fixed on the sliding rod 21 and a
second end facing against the constant socket 22, and a
11 bolt 24 connected to one end of the sliding rod 21.
12 Normally, the bolt 24 protrudes out of the casing 200
13 of the first lock 20 as shown in Fig. 3. The bolt 24
14 will retract when it is hit by a force from outside
such as when a person is closing the door, or when the
16 solenoid 11 is actuated thus pulling the transmission
17 rod 13 and the sliding rod 21 to a direction thereto
18 and causing the lock 20 to be in unlocked status.
19 The locking means 2 is also allowed to connect to
a second lock 40 which is the so-called cylinder lock
21 as shown in Fig. 5. The second lock 40 has a button
22 401 to control the locked status of the lock 40, such
23 as the depressed one in Fig. 5 illustrating the lock 40
24 is in locked status. The connection between the housing
10 and the lock 40 is shown in Fig. 6, with the lock 40
26 being in an end view of Fig. 5. An external transmis-
27 sion bar 402 is attached to the switching point of the
28 lock 40 and allows the lock 40 to be opened therefrom.

1 In this example the locking means 2 is secured to the
2 second lock 40 and control the locked/unlocked status
3 of the second lock 40 similar to that mentioned in the
4 first lock 20. The ~transmission rod 13 is secured to
the transmission bar 402, therefore, when the solenoid
6 11 is actuated, the actuating rod 12 thereof will
7 retract and pull the transmission rod 13 and open the
8 lock 40. Figs. 5 and 6 illustrate the lock 40 is in a
9 locked status. Figs. 7 and 8 illustrate the lock 40 is
in an unlocked status.
