Shoulder strap attachment for knapsacks,
rucksacks or similar.
i
t
The invention refers to a shoulder strap attachment for
.'e knapsacks, rucksacks or similar in accordance with the preamble to
~' Claim 1.
Knapsacks of this type in particular are often also worn as a
hand bag carried in the hand; in those cases the shoulder strap
attachments on the back side often interfere.
. Therefore, the purpose of the present invention is to build ashoulder strap attachment for knapsacks, rucksacks or similar in
such fashion, that they do not interfere when the knapsack,
rucksack or similar is used as a hand bag. This problem is solved
in the design with the features indicated in Claim 1.
Further advantageous and useful developments of the solutions
according to the invention are indicated in the sub-claims.
~ The solution according to the invention allows to insert the
;~ shoulder strap attachments on the back side of knapsacks, rucksacks
~i~ or similar through a slit into the inside of the knapsack, rucksack
or similar, when the knapsack, rucksack or similar is used as a
normal hand bag. The additional cover piece provided allows

to completely cover the shoulder strap attachment so that it can no
longer interfere.
The invention will be explained by means of the enclosed
drawing which illustrates an exemplified embodiment.
The following are shown:
Fig. 1 a diagrammatic top view of a shoulder strap
attachment for a knapsack, rucksack or similar in
use
and
i Fig. 2 a diagrammatic top view of a shoulder strap
I attachment for a knapsack, rucksack or similar
covered.
Same parts in the figures in the drawings are identified with
same reference marks.
The drawing shows a left lower corner area 2 on the back side
of the main body of a knapsack, rucksack or similar, the bottom
side being marked 4 and the left side of the back side being m~rked
1 6.
I At a distance of, for example, 55 mm to the rounded corner 8
in the corner area 2 a, for example, 30 mm long slit 10 is provided
on the back side.
j A shoulder strap attachment 12 with a holding 13 for a roll
buckle 14 is fastened in the corner area 2. The holding 13 has the
shape, for example, of a 20 mm wide strip-shaped loop 16, whose two
overlapping free ends, for example, are connected to the back side
of the m~in body at a distance of 15 mm from the edge 8 by means of
a rivet 18 and a seam 20. The loop 16 overlaps the slit 10

` by a sufficient length and also has a common buckle 22 before the roll buckle 14 for inserting the end of a common shoulder strap
attached to the roll buckle (not shown).
In the corner area 2 a triangular cover piece 24 (shown with a
dotted line) shaped to complement the corner area is attached which
is preferably sewn on the edge area of the back side of the main
~j body. The cover piece 24 overlaps the slit 10, so that the slit is
not visible.
i~
When used as shown in Fig. 1, the shoulder strap attachment 12
protrudes with the loop end of the loop 16, the roll buckle 14 and
the loop 22 from the cover piece 24.
Knapsacks in particular, are often also carried in the hand as
hand bags; usually the common shoulder strap attachments interfere.
In order to eliminate this disadvantage, the portion of the
shoulder strap attachment 12 overlapping the slit 10 can be
inserted through the slit in the inside of the bag, and the rest of
the shoulder strap attachment 12 remains under the cover piece 24,
as clearly shown in Fig. 2, so that the entire shoulder strap
attachment is hidden, thus turning the rucksack into a proper hand
bag.
Similarly to the above description and drawing, the shoulder
strap at~achment is also provided in the lower right side corner
area of the back side of-a knapsack, rucksack or similar.
