English Abstract

During the manufacture of socks, the latter are profiled on formers (12),
where the length of the successive socks is determined by means of optical
sensors (18). After the socks have been drawn from the formers (12) by a
sloping belt section (20, 21), they are deflected over the path of a
following conveyor belt (24) by a sorting gate (25) into two parallel paths,
as
a function of their length, in such a way that the in each case longer
stocking (15) covers the shorter stocking within the pack.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

-9-
CLAIMS
1. Apparatus for grouping textiles conveyed successively on
a conveying path (11, 20, 21, 24) on the basis of
detectable criteria, with sensing means (18) for determining
the criteria of successive textiles and for
generating sensor signals corresponding to the criteria,
with an evaluating device (35) for comparing the sensor
signals with one another and for generating an output
signal and with a sorting switch (25) for the textiles
(15) controllable on the basis of the output signal
located on a carry-on conveying path (25, 31).
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the sensing
means includes sensors for detecting length of the
stockings, and generating sensor signals according to
the length the apparatus being provided for forming
pairs of stockings (15) with a predetermined arrangement
with respect to single stockings length within a pair,
the evaluating device (35) comparing the sensor signals
within a pair.
3. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a carry-in
conveying path (11) contains formers (12) for the textiles
(15), from which the textiles can be drawn off in a
drawing off position (17) by means of a belt conveyor
(20, 21) engaging the textiles bilaterally.
4. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the sorting
switch (25) is followed by a conveyor (31) with at least
two parallel belts (29, 30), on which the textiles (15)
are juxtaposed in the desired arrangement and can be
removed together by a removal device.
5. Apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the removal

-10-
device is constructed for folding together the group of
textiles (15).
6. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the evaluating
device (35) contains a buffer store for the signals,
e.g. a shift register.
7. Apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the formers (12)
are upright formers profiled in accordance with the
textile shape which pass through the drawing off position
(17), where the textiles (15) are gripped in their upper
area by the belt conveyor (20, 21) and are conveyed on
in upwardly sloping, hanging manner.
8. Apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the sensing
device (18) is located in the vicinity of the formers
(12).
9. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein in the vicinity
of a conveying path section (24) conveying the textiles
(15) in hanging manner a thread cutter (40) is provided
for removing thread ends projecting from the textiles
(15).
10. Apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the thread
cutter (40) contains a sensor-controlled cutting device
(43) with motor-driven, protected blades in the manner
of a hair clipper.
11. Apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the thread
cutter (40) contains a device cutting through threads by
heat action.
12. Apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the thread
cutter is provided with a suction device (41) for exposing
ends the threads.
