English Abstract

With the Mitre Saw Plank, an electric mitre saw can be easily bolted to the
lower deck
using bolts with wing nuts. The material that is being cut with the mitre saw
rests on the
upper deck of the plank giving the operator easier handling of material,
especially longer
material. The mitre saw plank consists of components being bolted, welded,
screwed or
riveted together.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

The embodiment of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is
claimed
are defined as follows:
1. A saw plank for holding electric mitre saws and material to be cut
comprising main
structural components, deck piece for mitre saw to set on, deck pieces for
material to be
cut to set on, bolts for mitre saw to attach to plank with wing nuts.
2. A saw plank as defined in claim 1, in which the plank sets on saw horses or
other.
3. A saw plank as defined in claim 1 or claim 2, in which the deck piece for
the mitre
saw to set on can be adjusted upwards for different mitre saws by placing
shims between
deck piece and main structural component.

Description

CA 02248388 1998-10-09
With the Mitre Saw electric mitre saw can be easily bolted to the lower deck
using bolts with wing nuts. The materia in cut with the mitre saw rests on the
upper deck of the plank giving the operator easier handling ~a~. ' es ecially
longer
material. The mitre saw plank consists of components being bolted, welded, sc
~ed-er
riveted together.
SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to a plank or stand used to hold an electric mitre saw
or com-
pound mitre saw and material to be cut.
It is common with planks or stands used with mitre saws to be heavy, bulky and
awk-
ward to lift or handle. It is also a problem not to have enough working
surface or sup-
port area for materials to be cut. It is known to be difficult to fasten mitre
saws to planks
or stands. I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome with this
design of
mitre saw plank. The materials used in construction of this plank make it
light weight
and the design makes it easy to lift and handle. The upper deck areas provide
a lot of
working surface and support for materials (E.g.. 2x6, l6ft.) to be cut. The
bolt system
on the lower deck provide easy attachment and detachment of mitre saws.
DESCRIPTIONS OF DRAWINGS
In drawings which illustrate embodiment of the invention, figure 1 is the side
elevation
of the main embodiment, figure 2 is a top view of this embodiment, figure 3 is
a top
view of structure components 3 & 4 with deck pieces 1 & 2 removed, figure 4
shows
embodiment separated and figure 5 is an elevation of another embodiment having
one
piece structural components unlike that of figure 1 - 4.
The mitre saw plank illustrated comprises structural components 3 & 4 which
bolt or
weld together to make the main embodiment with deck pieces 1 & 2 attached to
the top.
The mitre saw is to set on deck piece 2 and attaches with bolt & wing nut 5.
Bolts 6
attach component 3 to component 4. Bolt 5 attach mitre saw to .the plank
illustrated
using wing nuts for hand tightening.
The mitre saw plank is designed to hold an electric mitre saw on deck 2 and
for material
to rest on deck 1 while being cut to size with electric mitre saw. The mitre
saw plank is
designed to set on saw horses or other objects (legs) for comfortable height
for use. In
the embodiment shown in figure 5 structural components 7 are one piece instead
of
separate components shown in figures 1-4.
