English Abstract

The purpose of the invention is to be used as a highlighting paper in the
hairdressing
industry. Highlighting papers are used by hairdressers for a process known as
highlighting
wherein strands of hair are coloured with a colour formulation and kept
divided from the
uncoloured hair by these highlighting papers.
The most popular material used for highlighting is aluminum foil. Aluminum
foil is
a great insulator of heat however the foil is very heavy and tends to drag and
pull away from
the hair causing demarcation lines in the hair moreover aluminum foil is not
reusable so that
every time a head of hair is finished being highlighted all of the dozens of
papers are thrown
away and over the duration of many processes this can add up to hundreds and
hundreds of
papers each week.
The invention will eliminate these two problems while allowing for all of the
positive
properties of aluminum foil.
The invention is a material comprised of a thin sheet of aluminum foil being
laminated with a poly substance being either polyurethane, polyester or
polypropylene.
These three substances are all substantially lighter than aluminum foil since
only a small
amount of aluminum foil is needed to maintain the heat retaining qualities of
the foil so when
laminated with one of the poly substances the papers become noticeably lighter
than
aluminum foil thus, the invention will not weigh down on or drag down on the
hair causing
lines of demarcation like the foil.
The invention is reusable unlike foil because the three poly substances when
laminated with aluminum foil can be rinsed and wiped clean of any colour
formula and used
again, this factor would eliminate an uncountable amount of waste produced by
each stylist
in a salon and save a lot of money for the salon and it's hairstylists.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Claims
1. The invention is a substance that is used by hairdressers in order to
isolate and
chemically treat selected strands of hair from a head of hair, this substance
consists essentially of
aluminum foil laminated with either polyurethane, polypropylene polyester to
create a material
that has the heat insulating qualities of aluminum foil that has been re-
enforced with a
polysubstance to give the material durability enough to be re-used, which
conventional
highlighting papers made only of aluminum foil do not allow for.
2. The substance as described in claim 1, is comprised of aluminum foil which
is a
common substance for highlighting hair, where as aluminum foil commonly weighs
down and
slips out of the hair causing demarcation lines from the coloring mixture that
leaks outwards, the
invention is laminated with a less dense polysubstance that is considerably
lighter than
conventional aluminum foil papers which eliminates the extra weight that can
drag the
highlighting papers out of the hair causing lines of demarcation or spotting.

Field of the Invention
The invention is a material that will be used by hairstylists for a process
known as
highlighting which is a commonly performed process by hairstylists in the
hairdressing
industry.

The Hi~hli -hg t Paper
Highlighting papers consist of a flexible material such as aluminum foil,
Styrofoam,
plastic, waxpaper and paper. These materials are all then cut into rectangles
and used as
highlighting papers. Aluminum foil has always been the most widely used
highlighting paper
by far. Because of the heavy weight of the aluminum foil the above mentioned
papers were
introduced to the market however none of these papers were able to conquer
foil in the
highlighting market due to the foils heat retaining qualities and for the fact
that most
hairstylists learned with aluminum foil and loyally still use it to this day.
Despite the fact that there is already a various selection of highlighting
papers on the
market none are reusable. Reusability is important when one takes into account
that in any
given head of hair being highlighted anywhere between 20- 50 would be used and
then
discarded. Hairstylists perform this process several times a week and the
amount of money
being lost begins adding up and a solution to this problem would be profitable
to any
hairstylists and every salon.

Obj ects of the Invention
The invention is a material comprised of a thin sheet of foil being laminated
to a thin
sheet of either polyurethane, polypropylene, or polyester to create a sheet
that is one side
aluminum foil and one side poly substance. Then foil side of this material
would allow for
all the positive properties of using straight aluminum foil sheets except the
three poly
substances named above weigh a fraction of what aluminum foil weighs thus the
invention
weighs substantially less than foil sheets so the invention will not weigh
down and pull out
of the hair causing demarcation lines of colour in the hair like foil can.
Furthermore the
invention would only need to be rinsed and wiped before using it again and
again. The
invention would be entirely reusable, saving money for all hairstylists who
chose to use it.

Detailed Description of the Invention in Use
Weave a section of hair from the head which is intended to be coloured. Next
place
the invention underneath the section of hair with the hair laying on top of
the foil side of the
sheet. Apply colour formula to the hair and close the sheet by folding the
sheet in half so that
the bottom edge is in line with the top edge. At this point the foil side of
the invention is not
visible and the polysubstance side is visible. Repeat this process until the
entire head of hair
has been woven into sections and coloured. After the colour formula has been
fully processed
remove the sheets from the head of hair and wash the colour formula out of the
hair. Until
now used highlight papers were disposable and thrown out however the invention
can be
rinsed with water and wiped or be left to air dry until used again.

Summary of the Invention
The invention allows a hairstylist to reuse a commonly disposed of tool.
Hairstylists
who choose to use this invention will benefit from all of the most popular
highlighting paper
on the market ( Aluminum foil ) except that it will not process the heaviness
that proves to
be a detriment to those hairstylists who use aluminum foil. The invention is
also reusable
which makes it a competitive product on the highlighting paper market.
