English Abstract

A container/mould constituted of a microwaveable, re-usable, recycleable
material for the baking of tortillas and or wraps to create an edible bowl.
The invention is directed to the provision of a simple and inexpensive
container/
mould which is comprised of certified foodgrade plastics, that can be used in
a microwave oven.
The container is configured in a bowl shaped structure that has deeply fluted
walls that are inwardly and outwardly curved, and a flat circular base.
The container/mould will enable a flat bread created from a variety of flours,
but specifically wheat, to be pressed into the bowl which acts as a mould. The
uniform temperature distribution created by microwaves essentially reduces
the water content in the flatbread which dehydrates the bread in the mould
allowing for a hardening of the bread.
Upon removal from the container/mould the flatbread retains the mould shape
and can then be used as an edible serving vessel. The dehydrated bread retains
the deeply fluted shape of the container/mould and makes an attractive
alternative serving presentation for a variety of comestibles.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege
is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A container/mould constituted of a microwaveable, re-usable, recycleable
material for the baking of tortillas and or wraps to create an edible bowl.
The invention is directed to the provision of a simple and inexpensive
container/mould which is comprised of certified foodgrade plastics, that
can be used in the home microwave oven.
The container is configured in a bowl shaped structure that has deeply
fluted walls that are inwardly and outwardly curved, and a flat circular
base. The container/mould enable a flat bread created from a variety of
flours, but specifically wheat, to be pressed into the bowl which acts as a
mould. The uniform temperature distribution created by microwaves
essentially reduces the water content in the flatbread which dehydrates
the bread in the mould allowing for a hardening of the bread. Upon
removal from the container/mould the flatbread retains the mould shape
and can then be used as an edible serving vessel. The dehydrated bread
retains the deeply fluted shape of the container/mould and makes an
attractive alternative serving presentation for a variety of comestibles.
2. A container/mould as defined in claim 1, in which the fluted walls of the
bowl shaped structure have a height of at least 6 cm (2 1/4 inches), the
bowl shaped structure has a width of at least 17 cm (7 inches) and a flat
bottom width of at least 6 cm (2 1/4 inches).
3. A container/mould as defined in claim 1 of a configuration that can be
uniformly heated in a microwave oven to dehydrate the flatbread product
placed inside the mould.

SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to a microwaveable, foodgrade plastic container/mould
for the even dehydration of flatbread products such as tortillas or wraps, to
create an edible bowl.
Traditionally, the edible bowl has had to be deep fried using corn based
products
which can withstand high frying temperatures. Generally speaking the
equipment necessary to create these edible flatbread bowls is primarily
industrial.
For in-home use the consumer has to use a metal bowl that cannot be placed
in the microwave and takes approximately 20 minutes to prepare in traditional
electric or gas ovens. These metal style bowls are not easily obtainable and
the cost is prohibitive. Usually the flutes have to be handformed and baking
weights placed on the bottom of the bowl to maintain a useable shape when
the bread products have been dehydrated.
In commercial applications the edible bowl products are not easy to source
because the resulting bowls are very fragile and easily damaged upon
transportation. In order to create the deep fried bowls, substantial amounts
of fat are transferred to the final edible product which can be considered an
undesirable result for health reasons, and the inherent dangers of deep fat
frying are well documented.
These disadvantages are overcome by providing a container/mould that enables
the bowls to be easily created at home in a microwave oven that allows the
edible bowls to be created in less than 60 seconds, with no added fats or oils
that could compromise health.
The microwaveable container/mould allows the consumer to prepare an edible
bowl product at home in a cost effective, and simple and safe manner. In
addition, the container/mould could be used in a commercial setting that
would allow for the creation of these edible bowls for foodservice use which
would bypass the danger of deep fat frying and all its inherent health and
safety issues.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring now in more specific detail to the drawing, Fig. 1., illustrates a
microwaveable container/mould configured in a bowl shape with deeply fluted
walls and a flat base.
The container/mould walls as shown in Fig. 2., consist of an inwardly and
outwardly curved or fluted configuration.
The container/mould base as shown in Fig. 3., is essentially configured as a
flat circular based from which the walls project upward at a slight angle.
