English Abstract

"Constructive disposition introduced in pliers", of the type that may be
utilized for cutting of nails and/or cuticles, and that comprises that its
gripping handles (1) are specially produced by injection, where the same show
a structure (3) of the bicomponent type; said structure (3) of the gripping
handle (1), comprises two regions, being one external region (4) preferably
produced in Santoprene, and another internal region (5), constitutive of the
body (6) of the pliers, and that is manufactured in high resistance Nylon
added with thirty per cent (30 %) of fiberglass.

"CONSTRUCTIVE DISPOSITION
INTRODUCED iN PLIERS"
This report refers to a patent
application of utility model that deals with a new
constructive disposition introduced in pliers of the type
normally used for the cutting of nails and/or cuticles.
As is of the general knowledge
the pliers for cutting of nails and/or cuticles are
normally constructed through the mounting of two
1o symmetrical metallic parts, which are articulated in a
common intermediate point, each one of which having areas
of gripping and extremities provided with cutting edges.
Another type of more modern
pliers comprises that the two main parts which constitute
the instrument are not entirely metallic, being
anticipated, in each one of the handles, a portion obtained
by injection of material, that receives in its inner part
an insert that corresponds to the anterior extremity where
is located the corresponding cutting edge.
This latter type of pliers
presents a series of advantages if compared to the older
model, since only a small part of its structure is actually
made of metal.
The use of injected material
2:5 as part of the structure of the pliers, notably in what
refers to the area of gripping of its handles, allows the
obtainment of less expensive, lighter and more reliable
pieces.

Within this context was
developed this constructive disposition introduced in
pliers, which is specially characterized by the fact that
the injected portion of' each one of the two parties that
compose the pliers shows a substantially innovative
construction.
Next, the pliers object of
this patent application of utility model will be described
in detail with references to the below listed drawings:
the figure 1 illustrates a flat view of the pliers
abject of this patent;
the figure 2 illustrates a lateral view of the
:;object pliers, that is taken
according the direction indicated by
t:he arrow A of figure 1; and
the figure 3 illustrates a cutting section view of
i~his pliers, that is taken according
!~o the direction indicated by the B -
B cutting line of figure 1.
2C~ According to what is
illustrated by the above listed figures, the constructive
disposition introduced in pliers herein commented, it is
characterized by the fact of anticipating that the gripping
handles (1) of the pliers (2), are specially produced by
2:5 injection, that allow~~ that the same present a structure
(3) of the bi-component: type.
The structure (3) of the
gripping handle (1),. as illustrate the figures that

integrate this patent of utility model, comprises two
regions, that in spite of being entirely integrated, may be
clearly defined due to the differentiated nature of the
utilized materials, that is, an external region (4)
produced preferably in Santoprene material, and another
internal region (5), constitutive of the body (6) of the
pliers and that is manufactured in high resistance nylon
added with 30 $ of fiberglass.
Interconnecting the two pieces
that integrate the body (6) of this pliers (2) it is
anticipated a rivet (7), which may be produced in stainless
steel, or even in Nylon welded by interference.
The model of pliers utilized
to illustrate this constructive disposition, relies on a
pair of spring blades (8), each one entirely inserted in
the structure of the corresponding internal region (5) that
integrates the body (E~) said blades (8) are positioned so
as to oppose themselves to each other as a means of
calibrated resistance to the closing of the pliers.
The pliers herein dealt has
its gripping handles (1) molded by injection of high
technology, that constitutes an injection process that
employs special equipment of dedicated use, that provide
the utilization of two or more materials in colors and with
differentiated characteristics.
Within this context, the herein
proposed pliers relies on the physical particularities of
two different materials, which integrate its body, namely,

4
the Nylon/fiberglass that constitute the body (6) of the
pliers, and the Santo~?rene. which occupies the external
region (4) of the gripping handle.
The first material gives
resistance to the pliers, notably in what refers to
retaining in a firm and definitive way the inserts that
include the cutting edges and the spring blades, and the
second material, actuates as a means to improve the
ergonomy of the pliers, what is obtained in function of the
l0 anti-skidding characteristics that assures a better grip to
the instrument.
It is worthwhile to emphasize
that the model of pliers illustrated in this application
for patent of utility model may be target of adequation of
l:i esthetic order, without one escaping from the scope of the
intended protection that is related to the constructivity
herein presented.
