English Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a tool holder (5) for turning inside
contours (3A-C) of workpieces (3). The tool holder (5) has a circular front
face (5') and with same can be rotated by indexing. In the area of its
circumference the tool holder is fitted with at least two different machining
tools (6, 7, 8) situated at equal distances from each other.

Claims

CLAIMS
1. A method for turning inner contours on workpieces,
characterized in that at least one tool holder
which is provided with screw-in/push-in inserts
for accommodating cutting tools (6. 7, 8) and is
intended for carrying out different machining
steps is indexed in the interior of the workpiece
and is moved into a clearance position radially in
the direction of the axis of rotation of the work-
piece for the indexing.
2. A tool holder for turning inner contours on work-
pieces, characterised in that a tool holder (5)
having a circular end face (5') is provided in the
region of the periphery with at least two Aequi-
spaced different cutting tools (6, 7, 8), which
are accommodated in inserts (30) which can be
screwed/pushed into grooves (32) of the tool
holder (5), and is indexable in the interior of a
workpiece bore.
3. The tool holder as claimed in claim 2, character-
ized in that interchangeable inserts (30) for ac-
commodating the cutting tools (6, 7, 8) are pro-
vided in the end face (5') of the tool holder (5).
4. The tool holder as claimed in claim 2 or 3, char-
acterized in that the tool holder (5) is fitted
with an appropriate number of cutting tools (6)
for the machining requirements.

-7-

acterized in that a plurality of tool holders (5)
axe interchangeably arranged at the periphery of a
tool-holder plate (11) which is connected to the
turret head (10) of a machine tool.

Dliethod aad tool holder for tura3.ng inner contours
on workpieces
The invention relates to a method and a tool holder for
turning inner contours on workpieces.
~t'ool turrets which are zitLed with tools belong to the
prior art. Thc3c tools h3vc in each ca~c been developed
for a predetermined machining operation, so that, for
each machining operation on a "pccific worJcpiccc con-
tour, a tool specially matched thereto and having a
tool holder had to be u~cd hitherto. For thi3 purpo3e,
the machine tool must be traversed to a reference posi-
tion which lies outside the region of colliEion with
Lhe workpiece during the tool change. 1n the process,
the tool turret is aligned with the desirod tool, so
l.tidt the latter eats SubS~c~uently be brought into en-
gagement for the machining.
The obj ect of tha invention is to provide a method and

in which the time for approaching the reference posi-
tior~ Lur Ltie tuul change amci rur dppt~oacriinq the work-
