English Abstract

A soap bar holder for the hand providing a firm, non-slip
hold consisting of a waterproof, elastic strap embedded into
the soap bar itself which forms a loop outside and above
the bar for the hand to slip into. The user's hand is inserted
between the strap and the soap bar, enabling him or her to
apply the soap with or without physically grasping it. The
elasticized construction of the strap allows it to be stretched
without breaking and to be flipped from one side of the
soap bar to the other ensuring even wear on each side of the
bar.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Claims
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive
property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. An aid for holding a soap bar to a user's hand
consisting of a embedded, waterproof, elasticized
strap in the soap bar that forms a loop over the top
of the soap bar so the user's hand may be inserted
between the strap and the soap bar for its most
efficient use.
2. The aid as defined in claim 1 consists of flexible
material so that the complete soap bar product fits
most hand sizes.
3. The aid as defined in claim 1 consists of a
waterproof, elasticized material so as to stay
functional for the entire life of the soap bar.
4. The aid as defined in claim 1 may be flipped over to
the opposite side of the soap bar so as to facilitate
even wear of the soap bar itself.

Brief Description
Soap Bar Holder
This invention relates to the use of bar soap wherein it
allows the user to apply the soap with much more ease and
no real chance of losing hold of the bar itself. Bar soap is
commonly available on its own with no means of holding it
securely when it becomes wet and slippery.

CA 02447908 2004-06-08
Back;gound of the Invention
The disadvantages of a slippery, wet soap bar are that there
is an inclination for the user to drop the soap bar allowing it
to break causing waste, forcing the user to take up extra.
time in the shower, chasing the soap bar and causing the
potential hazard of slipping in the shower/tub while moving
about and reaching down in search of the soap bar.
Another disadvantage of this type of soap is the difficulty
for users who suffer from hand afflictions and cannot grip
or grasp sufficiently enough for the use of bar soap. These
specific users must then resort to more expensive liquid
pump applicators, also difficult to use.

CA 02447908 2004-06-08
Summary of the Invention
These disadvantages of regular bar soap may be overcome
by providing a secure and embedded elastic strap within the
soap bar itself. When the user slips his or her hand
between the strap and soap bar, the bar is firmly held in
place on his or her hand. The user can either grasp the bar
or not and still apply the soap without the concern or
inconvenience of dropping it.

Brief Description of the Drawings
In drawings, which illustrate the embodiments of the
invention, Figure 1 illustrates the use of the soap bar holder
from the side view. The user's hand 3 is inserted under the
strap 2 and above the soap bar 1. Figure 2 is a cross-
section of soap bar 1 showing the placement of the
embedded strap 2 lengthwise. Figure 3 is a three
dimensional top-view of soap bar 1 with the loose amount
of elastic strap 2. Figure 4 is a side view of soap bar 1 with
the elastic strap 2.

CA 02447908 2004-06-08
Detailed Description
As seen in figure 2(Bar 1., Strap 2), an elasticized,
waterproof strap approximately five inches in length, three
quarters of an inch wide sewn together at each end to form
a loop. One half of the loop is embedded in the soap bar.
The remaining half of the loop protrudes from each end of
the soap bar and creates a half loop above the bar with
enough room to slide the hand into for a secure hold.
