Patent Reasons
Tom-Boy Products has determined there is no other product as effective on the
market,
especially one that can be used for multiple pests. The reason for a patent on
this product is to
protect the inventor from duplication of the product. There are varying
designs for individual bait
traps for mice, ants, slugs and snails, but none as inexpensive to produce or
as effective for
multiple uses as the S.A.M.S. Xterminator Tunnel.
Claims
S.A.M.S. Xterminator Tunnel
This is a concept for a safe baiting procedure for slugs, snails, ants and
mice. The main features
are the safety it provides for other pets such as cats, dogs and squirrels, as
well as protecting
small children from the bait being exposed to them. After much research,
nothing like this design
or broad application is available in the market place. Perhaps the most
important observation
following many days of testing is that all of the above listed creatures
appear attracted to the
tunnel effect; readily entering and devouring the bait and rendering them
immobile. In addition,
this product also keeps the bait dry, making it effective for a longer period
of time.
As with other bait traps, the product does not require digging to accommodate
the entrance of
the pests. It also offers a stable platform, unlike competing models that are
free-standing without
a method to stabilize or secure the unit, as offered by the Xterminator ground
peg (3/16 rod).
Description
Three inch (P.V.C.) tubing spliced in half to create the tunnel effect'. The
nut is 8132 soft steel
and is threaded onto the rod. The soft steel 20.6 cm long 3116 rod is placed
with the threaded
end through the drilled centre hole in the tubing2. The 3.5 cm wooden knob has
an 8/32
threaded soft steel insert. The knob is threaded on to the rod making it ready
for use3. The
choice of bait (or multiple baits) is then laid on the ground. The tunnel is
then pushed into the
ground and made secure by the rod, which effectively covers the bait under the
tunnel4.
