English Abstract

The present invention relates to a system that can be used to elevate heavy
objects
from ground level to an elevation corresponding to the height of a pick-up
truck tailgate.
This system maintains the load in a level position during its travel and
transmits the
weight of the load to the ground instead of inducing stress to the vehicle
that it is attached
to.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

3
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege
is
claimed are defined as follows:
-A device that attach to the trailer hitch, bumper, or tailgate of a pick-up
truck and that
include a platform that lift from the ground to the elevation of the said
tailgate.
-A lifting platform that mounts to the rear of a wheeled vehicle, that is
attached to the
said vehicle with one or more component allowing the vertical movement of that
platform and that comprise one or more component that transmit some or all the
weight
of the platform and its load to the ground.
-A lifting platform that mounts to the rear of a wheeled vehicle, that is
attached to the
said vehicle with one or more component allowing the vertical movement of that
platform and that comprise one or more component in contact with the ground
during the
movement of the said platform.
-A lifting platform that mounts to the rear of a wheeled vehicle, that is
attached to the
said vehicle with one or more component allowing the vertical movement of that
platform and that comprise one or more component in contact with the ground
and linked
to the platform or the other components in a way to maintain the platform
level during the
lift.
-A lifting platform that mounts to the rear of a wheeled vehicle, that is
attached to the
said vehicle with one or more component allowing the vertical movement of that
platform and that comprise one or more component in contact with the ground
and linked
to the platform or the other components in a way to maintain the platform
level during the
lift and that also position the platform in a non level position in order to
transport that
said platform.
-A lifting platform that mounts to the rear of a wheeled vehicle, that is
attached to the
said vehicle with one or more component allowing the vertical movement of that
platform and that comprise one or more component in contact with the ground
and linked
to the platform or the other components in a way that allows for the platform
to be folded
in order to transport that said platform.

Specification
It is well known that when heavy objects need to be loaded into a vehicle some
devices are available to assist in the task. It is possible to use a ramp but
this system only
work safely with certain load, another system is an expansive powered tailgate
lift that
mounts to the frame of the truck and replaces the original tailgate.
My invention is a system that is mounted in the trailer hitch receiver of a
pick-up
truck or similar vehicle and that allows to easily elevate heavy objects from
ground level
to the tailgate level of the vehicle. This system transmits the weight of the
load being
lifted directly to the ground and not on the vehicle itself. The load stays
level during its
travel. This system is self contained and the only connection to the vehicle
is thru the
trailer hitch receiver. The system also folds on itself for transport.
Description of the drawings:
Fig. 1 represents a left side view of the system at ground level position.
Fig. 2 represents a left side view of the system at an elevated position.
Referring to Fig. 1; the platform 2 is at ground 101evel position, it is
connected to the
vehicle I by a connecting arm 5 and a trailer hitch connector 7. At the rear
of the
platform 2, a lifting arm 3 equipped with wheels 4 is linked to the front
connecting arm 5
with gears 8 in order to keep the platform 2 level as it will rise from the
ground 10. The
lifting efforts will be made by the winch 6 that has a cable 9 attached to the
rear lifting
arm 3. The winch cable 9 is routed in a way that it passes under the front of
the platform
2 and that when the winching starts, a lifting effort will be made to lifts
the platform 2 at
the same time as the lifting arm 3 will be forced under the platform in a
lifting motion.
Referring to Fig. 2; the lifting arm 3 is now pulled by the winch cable 9 well
under the
platform 2 with the results of lifting the platform 2 of the ground 10 while
transferring
most of the platform 2 weight to the ground 10.
