English Abstract

TR is a digital box which uses the power of Boxee and Slingbox as one to
revolutionize the way
Canadians view television. Much like Facebook, TR allows the user to connect
with their friends
and families by logging into a personalized TR account at home using the TR
digital box to view
content on their television set, or using Boxee to view content online. Once
logged into their TR
account, the user can rate and recommend the content they watch, chat (through
Facebook live
chat or Twitter) while viewing content, or review their friends' recent
viewing activities. TR
allows for 100% user control. Viewers can also watch a station live, or go
back and watch a show
they've missed.

Project TR: "Television Revolution"
Bringing the things we love about the Internet to Television.
FACT: In February 2009, analog systems will be shut off and we will enter the
digital era.
I would like to change the way Canadians view television and media.
Television networks are teasing Canadians with content control by offering on
demand viewing.
As technology increases it's potential, I would like to bring something that
would be a first in
Canada, perhaps a first in the world.
Using the power and technology of Boxee and Slingbox made into one device I
would like to
propose the new era of television - the Project TR digital box.
About Boxee: on a laptop or connected to an HDTV, Boxee gives you a true
entertainment
experience to enjoy your movies, TV shows, music and photos, as well as
streaming content
from websites like Hulu, Netflix, ABC, CBS, Comedy Central, Last.fm, and
flickr.
About Slingbox: a TV streaming device that enables users to remotely view
their home's cable,
satellite, or personal video recorder (PVR) programming from an Internet-
enabled computer
with a broadband Internet connection. (www.slingmedia.com)
