English Abstract

The PowerPost was designed to be a totally portable anchoring post
and polywire reel stand. It allows for greater flexibility in designing
rotational grazing paddocks for all types of farm livestock. The PowerPost is
driven in and out of the ground with ease using the built in slide hammer.
The design allows for:
.cndot. Secure attachment of multiple polywire reels
.cndot. insulated gate handles to be attached
.cndot. polywire to be hooked into the insulators to act as a corner post
.cndot. easy insertion and removal from the ground with no tools required
With all of these functions the PowerPost, with polywire reels, can be used
to quickly create (1) paddocks where no fence or anchoring devices exists,
(2) temporary lanes to move livestock to different paddocks or watering
areas, (3) a quick fence to contain livestock in the event they break through
an existing fence 4) a solid anchor for polywire reels or insulated gate
handles wherever they are needed.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Claims
1. The PowerPost is a totally portable anchoring post and polywire reel stand
with a
built in slide hammer, the said slide hammer slides over the main post. The
user
holds the handle of the slide hammer and repeatedly pounds, with an up and
down
stroke, the base of the post into the ground. The user also can remove the
post
from the ground with an upward pounding of the slide hammer, striking the
attached top cap. The said top cap has the top polywire reel holder attached
to it.
The second and third polywire reel holders are attached, as per the drawings,
to
the slide hammer. The said reel holders are placed far enough apart to hold
three
reels at the same time. The three gate handle attachment loops are attached to
the
slide hammer, as per the drawings. These loops provide anchoring for insulated
gate handles.
2. The slide hammer, described in Claim 1, also has a short chain attached to
a quick
release pin to lock the slide hammer in place when the unit is being carried
or
when it is in use.
3. The slide hammer described in claim #1 also has three screw ring insulators
attached to the three gate handle attachment loops, as per the drawings. These
screw ring insulators allow the post to act as a corner post for polywire
fences.

Provisional Patent Description
The design of this post came out of a need on our farm for
something to anchor polywire reels to where there was no fence
wire strong enough to do so. The idea was to design a post that was
as strong as a T-bar post to anchor the reels to, but also a post
easily moved on (4 daily basis With Lit having to bring hammers
chains and tools to get it in and back out of the ground.
This post has a built in driver to pound it into the ground easily as
well as reverse the post back out of the ground just as easily. This
allows a portable electric fence to be easily bi_ffit anywhere not
requiring an existing post or fence to be present to attach your reels
to, which is presently the case. The post can also be used to create
a portable corner post if a sharp turn is required when setting up
your polywire fence
As you can see on the drawings there is a chain that a detent pin
is attached to, to allow you to carry the post so that the slide
hammer will not slide as you handle and move the post. There is 3
brackets on the side of the post to attach 3 reels to. All three would
be used in sheep production. With beef cattle usually only the top
bracket would be used. The round insulators on the opposite side
of the post would be used when using the post as a portable corner.
Again three would be used with sheep but only the top one with
beef. The base has a shorter spike on the side where most of the
weight would be when all three reels are attached. The rectangular
metal loop allows the post to be used as an anchor post when you
-4,, rant to incorporate a gate, into y7our gra7ing, system
The uniqueness of the post is in the fact that a portable fence
can be built anywhere with the use of portable reels and this post.
At present a semi permanent anchor post would need to be
ins-Wiled to attach the reel to or anchor a reel stand to .
The part that I want to protect is: this is the first post on the
market that is a portable anchor post, portable corner post and

CA 02781188 2012-05-14
primarily a portable reel stand and what makes them portable yet
secure is the built in driver which pounds the post into the ground
and also reverse pounds it back out of the ground.
Having built the post there could be many other designs used to
accomplish the same purpose. The idea of a self driving and
extracting post to attach polywire reels to is the part of it that is
unique. There has never been a totally portable reel stand and
multi purpose post on the market before now
