TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a frame structure of a
simple chair, and more particularly, to a frame structure of
a simple chair that can be conveniently used by being
coupled to a chair seat at the time of outdoor activities
such as camping, hiking, fishing, outdoor concert and
sporting events.
BACKGROUND ART
Simple chairs are manufactured to be conveniently
utilized, while being simply carried during outdoor
activities at which indoor chairs cannot be used, and in
general, chairs used at home are not suitable for a portable
use in most outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking,
fishing, outdoor concert and sporting events.
The simple chairs for outdoor activities need to be
lightweight and compact, portability is required, and of
course, and the simple chairs should be strong and durable
enough to be able to adequately support the user's load.
As the prior art, Korea Registered Utility Model
Publication No. 20-0292604 (Published Oct. 25, 2002) as
Patent Document 1 discloses an outdoor chair configured so
1

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
that left and right legs and a seat can be deployed or
folded between left and right frames simultaneously
functioning as leg and backrest frames, while performing an
angular motion, wherein a backrest is integrally formed at
the top of the left and right frames, intermediate upper
parts of the left and right legs are installed at the center
between the left and right frames so as to be angularly
deployed backward by a hinge bolt, the tops of the legs are
connected to a bottom central portion of the seat by the
hinge bolt so as to be angularly deployed, a stopper is
formed at the left and right sides of the rear end of the
seat and can be guided to slide along slide grooves
vertically formed in the left and right frames during
deploying and folding operations.
In addition, Korean Patent Registration No. 10-1121652
(published March 9, 2012) as Patent Document 2 discloses an
outdoor camping folding chair that includes a metal frame
made of aluminum and a chair cover made of a fabric material
installed on the metal frame, and has a means capable of
adjusting the height installed at the back legs of the
chair, wherein the means capable of adjusting the height of
the back legs of the chair is an auxiliary leg installed on
the back legs, a plurality of protruding means and a first
guide hole are installed in the back legs, the protruding
means is elastically supported to protrude outward by an
elastic means installed on the inside of the back legs so as
2

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
to be pushed in an inward direction of the back legs when
pushed with a hand and so as to protrude outward when not
pushed, the protruding means are installed in a lengthwise
direction of the back legs, the first guide hole is fixed to
the back legs through the fixing means to guide the movement
of the auxiliary leg, a second guide hole fixed to the
auxiliary leg through the fixing means to guide the movement
of the back legs is installed in the auxiliary leg, and a
protruding hole to which the protruding means of the back
legs are fitted is formed on a surface of the second guide
hole.
However, the outdoor chair of Patent Document 1 has
problems of a large size that is hard to carry for use in
camping and hiking.
In addition, the outdoor camping folding chair of
Patent Document 2 has a complicated configuration due to
consumption of a large number of members, and since there is
need to include a hinge hole, a protruding means, a first
guide hole and a fixing means for connection of back legs,
and a hinge shaft, a protruding hole, a second guide hole
and a fixing means for connection of the auxiliary leg and
couple these members, it is not easy to couple the members,
and there is a problem of failing to sufficiently support
the user's load due to weak coupling force of the hinge
means.

the support 110 and is connected to the lower end portions
of the upper short frame 300 and the upper long frame 400.
A plurality of lower connecting tubes 131 of the lower body
130 is radially formed , extends to the outside of the
support 110 and is connected to the upper end portions of
the lower shot frame 200.
In addition, the upper connecting tube 121 is formed to
incline upward at a predetermined angle toward an upper side
and is provided so that the upper short frame 300 and the
upper long frame can be connected toward the upper side, and
an upper reinforcing rib 122 is formed at the upper part to
protrude upward, and the plurality of upper reinforcing ribs
122 is connected to meet each other at the center, thereby
reinforcing the strength of the upper body 120.
At the same time, the lower connecting tube 131 is
8

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
formed to incline downward at a predetermined angle toward
an upper side and is provided so that the lower short frame
200 can be connected toward the lower side, and a lower
reinforcing rib 132 is formed at the lower part to protrude
downward, and the plurality of lower reinforcing ribs 132 is
connected to meet each other at the center, thereby
reinforcing the strength of the lower body 120.
Further, the upper connecting tubes 121 and the lower
connecting tubes 131 are connected to each other by a
support rib 140 to fill a space between the upper connecting
tube 121 and the lower connecting tube 131. The central hub
100 becomes a structure having a strong coupling strength,
thereby having rigid durability enough to be able to
sufficiently support the user's load.
The lower short frame 200 is detachably connected to
the lower connecting tube 131, and for example, an upper end
portion of the lower short frame 200 is fitted and coupled
to the interior of the lower connecting tube 131. Referring

to the interior of the upper connecting tube 121. Since an
elastic cord D is provided inside, the upper short frame can
be easily folded, and an insertion portion 310 provided with
an end cap 311 is formed at an upper end and is inserted and
coupled into a pocket 540 formed at a corner of a seat
portion 510 of the chair seat 500.
The upper long frame 400 is detachably connected to the
upper connecting tube 121, and for example, a lower end
portion of the upper short frame 400 is fitted and coupled
to the interior of the upper connecting tube 121. Since an
elastic cord D is provided inside, the upper long frame can
be easily folded, and an insertion portion 410 provided with
an end cap 411 is formed at an upper end and is inserted and
coupled into the pocket 540 formed at the corner of the seat
portion 510 of the chair seat 500.
At this time, in order to supplement the supporting
force of the upper short frame 300 provided to have a length
longer than that of the upper long frame 400, a bent portion
420 is formed to be rounded below the upper long frame 400,
thereby being able to more sufficiently support the user's
load.
In addition, the lower short frame 200, the upper short
frame 300 and the upper long frame 400 has the elastic cord
D installed inside, and each of the frames can be made up of
a plurality of sections, and the plurality of sections is

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
configured so that any one section is inserted and fitted
into the other section in coupling portions engaged with
each other. The elastic cord D is made up of a line having
elasticity to serve to pull each section inward and connects
the portions made up of the plurality of sections by a
single frame, while passing through an internal hollow hole
of each frame in a lengthwise direction.
Referring to FIGS. 6a to 6d, the chair seat 500 forms a
seat portion 510, a backrest portion 520 and a side portion
530. The top both end of the upper short frame 300 and the
upper long frame 400 toward the outside are disposed and
formed to open each other outward. When end caps 311, 411

slightly tension state, the seat portion 500 for seating is
provided on the lower side, the backrest portion 520 is
provided to support the back, and the side portions 530 are
formed on both sides so that arms can be supported thereon.
Further, the chair seat 500 referred to as a seat back
that is a portion on which a seating person sits is made of
sewn pieces of the woven textile such as canvas, and the
pockets 540 such as a tube receptacle are formed in each of
four corners.
The pocket 510 is made up of webbing sewn of a fabric
11

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
made of polyester, nylon, acrylic, polyurethane alone or
synthetically, and the insertion portions 310 and 410 are
configured to slide inside or outside and are detachably
connected. In this way,
the pocket 510 is connected to the
insertion portions 310 and 410, the chair seat 500 is
opened, in the connected state, the upper short frame 300
and the upper long frame 400 are in a slight tension state
that pulls the insertion portions 310 and 410 together,
whereby a user can sit on the chair seat 500.
At this time, after the end caps 311 and 411 formed at
the end of the insertion portions 310 and 410 slide into and
come into close contact with the pocket 5400, they come into
close contact with the interior of the pocket 510 due to the
tension state of the upper short frame 300 and the upper
long frame 400, thereby preventing the insertion portions
310 and 410 from being unintentionally disengaged from the
pocket 540.
Furthermore, the upper short frame 300 is connected to
the front of the chair seat 500 to support the seat portion
510 on which the user sits, the upper long frame 400 is
connected to the rear of the chair seat 500 to support a
backrest 520 against which a user supports, and the side
portions 530 are formed on both sides so that the user can
sit while supporting both arms.
At the same time, the chair seat 500 maintains the
tight tension state to prevent the seat portion 510 from
12

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
coming into contact with the central hub 100, thereby
preventing the user's load from being directly applied to
central hub 100, and it is possible to prevent the collapse
of the frame structure 1.
Thus, the supporting force to the user's vertical load
is reinforced, the supporting force tilted to the back of
the user increases, rigid coupling is maintained, and rigid
durability enough to be able to sufficiently support the
user's load is provided.
When releasing and separating the coupling of the
respective sections of the lower short frame 200, the upper
short frame 300 and the upper long frame 400, since the
sections are folded by the elastic cord D exposed to the
outside and is compactly deformed, the chair is wrapped by
the skin S as illustrated in FIG. 8 or is easily stored and
carried while being placed in a small bag B as illustrated
in FIG. 9.
Eventually, the frame structure 1 of the simple chair
according to the present invention, since it is easily
assembled, it possible to compactly fold and store the frame
structure, it has excellent portability, has a simple
structure, is easily manufactured, and is provided as a
structure that has a rigid coupling force by being supported
by the central hub, the frame structure has rigid durability
enough to be able to sufficiently support the user's load.
As described above, although particular embodiment has
13

CA 02913300 2015-11-26
been described to explain the present invention, the present
invention is not limited to these specific examples. Thus,
various modifications, applications and the combinations of
the several features of the described embodiments can be
performed without departing from the scope of the invention
as set forth in the appended claims.
Since the frame structure of the simple chair according
to the present invention is easily assembled, can be
compactly folded and stored, it has excellent portability,
has a simple structure, is easily manufactured, and is
provided as a structure that has a rigid coupling force by
being supported by a central hub, and the frame structure
has rigid durability enough to be able to sufficiently
support the user's load. Thus, it has industrial
availability.
