English Abstract

The invention relates to a collapsible scaffold platform (10). The scaffold platform (10) has a first scaffold platform body (22) and a second scaffold platform body (24). The scaffold platform bodies (22, 24) are connected together by means of a hinge (28). The hinge (28) enables the scaffold platform (10) to be collapsed for assembly, disassembly and transport. The width of the scaffold platform (10) is reduced in the collapsed state. Preferably, the width of the scaffold platform (10) is halved in the collapsed state. Preferably, each scaffold platform body (22, 24) has connecting means on each end face, as viewed in the longitudinal direction of the scaffold platform (10), in particular in the form of hooks (20), for connecting the scaffold platform (10) to crossbars (50, 56) of a scaffold (44). More preferably, the scaffold platform (10) has a lift-off safety lock (32, 34) on each end face, as viewed in the longitudinal direction. The lift-off safety locks (32, 34) are preferably arranged diagonally to one another such that, in the collapsed state of the scaffold platform (10), only a first lift-off safety lock (32) locks the scaffold platform (10) on a first cross bar (50). The invention further relates to a scaffold (44) comprising such a scaffold platform (10).

Scaffold part and scaffold having such a scaffold part
The invention relates to a scaffold part in the form of a walk-on scaffold
platform which at opposite transverse sides is disposable directly on a
scaffold, wherein the scaffold platform has a first scaffold platform body
having the first transverse side, and a second scaffold platform body
having the second transverse side.
io It is known for scaffolds, in particular facade scaffolds, to be
provided with
walk-on scaffold platforms. The scaffold platforms are disposed on cross
bars of the scaffold. By virtue of the size of the known scaffold platforms,
the known scaffold platforms can be assembled only with great effort.
Furthermore, the known scaffold platforms by virtue of the bulkiness
thereof are carried only with difficulty.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a scaffold
platform, a scaffold and a method for assembling a scaffold platform
which enable significantly easier handling of a scaffold platform.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a scaffold platform
having the features of patent claim 1, by a scaffold having the features of
patent claim 14, and by a method according to patent claim 15. The
dependent claims state preferred refinements.
The object according to the invention is thus achieved by a walk-on
scaffold platform which at mutually opposite transverse sides is disposable
directly on a scaffold, wherein the scaffold platform has a first scaffold
platform body having the first transverse side and a second scaffold
io platform body having the second transverse side, wherein the scaffold
platform has an articulation which pivotably connects the first scaffold
platform body to the second scaffold platform body.
The object according to the invention is thus achieved by a scaffold
platform which is configured so as to be capable of being folded or folded
up, respectively. The scaffold platform comprises a first scaffold platform
body and a second scaffold platform body which at the ends thereof that
are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction are in each case disposable
on further scaffold parts. In particular, the first scaffold platform body and
the second scaffold platform body are in each case disposable on two
cross bars of the scaffold. In order for the scaffold platform to be
transported, the latter can at least be in part folded up, on account of
which said scaffold platform can be more readily gripped and more easily
transported. The assembly of the scaffold platform is also significantly
facilitated since said scaffold platform in a narrow and at least partially
folded state is readily manageable. Said scaffold platform when being
assembled in the at least partially folded state is connectable to the first
cross bar so as to be connected in particular to the second cross bar. In a
second assembly step the scaffold platform can then be unfolded such
that said scaffold platform when fully assembled is fastened to the cross

bars. The entire upper side of the scaffold platform in this state is walk-
on.
The object according to the invention is thus achieved by a walk-on
scaffold platform, wherein the scaffold platform in the case of being
assembled in a scaffold has a rectangular basic shape having two mutually
opposite longitudinal sides and two mutually opposite transverse sides
which in relation to the longitudinal sides are shorter, wherein the scaffold
platform in the region of a first transverse side is fastenable directly to a
lo first cross bar, and the scaffold platform in the region of a second
transverse side is fastenable directly to a second cross bar of the scaffold,
wherein the scaffold platform has a first scaffold platform body and a
second scaffold platform body, wherein the first scaffold platform body by
means of an articulation of the scaffold platform in relation to the second
scaffold platform body is pivotable about the articulation axis of the
articulation between the first scaffold platform body and the second
scaffold platform body in order for the scaffold platform to be configured
to be at least partially foldable, wherein the first scaffold platform body
comprises at least part of the first transverse side, and the second scaffold
platform body comprises at least part of the second transverse side.
The terms "upper side", "lower side", "top", "bottom", "vertical",
"horizontal" and the like in the context of the present invention relate to
the state in which the scaffold platform is completely unfolded and
assembled.
A scaffold platform body is understood to be in particular a largely rigid
part of the scaffold platform that is walk-on and in relation to the scaffold
platform has a large area.

The scaffold platform bodies are preferably of equal length. Furthermore,
the transverse sides of the scaffold platform are preferably of equal
length. The transverse sides of the scaffold platform body preferably run
so as to be mutually parallel.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the scaffold platform is
configured in such a manner that the upper side of the first scaffold
platform body in the folded state of the scaffold platform comes to lie on
the upper side of the second scaffold platform body. In other words, the
scaffold platform is preferably capable of being completely folded up. The
first scaffold platform body herein is pivotable relative to the second
scaffold platform body in particular by 160 to 200 , preferably by 170 to
190 , particularly preferably between 175 and 1800.
The first scaffold platform body can comprise part of the first transverse
side and part of the second transverse side, wherein the second scaffold
platform body comprises part of the first transverse side and part of the
second transverse side. In other words, in this case, both scaffold
platform bodies are disposable, in particular directly, on the first cross bar
as well as on the second cross bar. This enables a particularly safe and
stable scaffold platform to be configured.
The width of the first scaffold platform body in particular corresponds to
80% to 120%, preferably 90% to 110%, particularly preferably 95% to
105% of the width of the second scaffold platform body.
In a further preferred configuration of the scaffold platform the
articulation axis is configured so as to be parallel with the central
longitudinal axis of the scaffold platform or so as to be along the central
longitudinal axis of the scaffold platform. The scaffold platform in this case

in the folded state now has only half the width (in relation to the
transverse side of the scaffold platform). In other words, the width of the
first scaffold platform body in this case corresponds to the width of the
second scaffold platform body.
In order for the scaffold platform to be fastened to the cross bars the
scaffold platform on the first transverse side can have a first hook by way
of which the scaffold platform is connectable directly to the first cross bar,
and the scaffold platform on the second transverse side can have a second
io hook by way of which the scaffold platform is connectable directly to
the
second cross bar.
Furthermore preferably, the scaffold platform on the first transverse side
can have a third hook by way of which the scaffold platform is connectable
directly to the first cross bar. Alternatively or additionally thereto, the
scaffold platform on the second transverse side can have a fourth hook by
way of which the scaffold platform is connectable directly to the second
cross bar. In a further preferred embodiment of the scaffold platform the
first scaffold platform body on the first transverse side has two hooks for
connecting to the first cross bar, and on the second transverse side has
two hooks for connecting to the second cross bar. Furthermore preferably,
the second scaffold platform body on the first transverse side has two
hooks for connecting to the first cross bar, and on the second transverse
side has two hooks for connecting to the second cross bar.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention the scaffold
platform on the first scaffold platform body in the region of the first
transverse side has a first anti-lift protection, and on the second scaffold
platform body in the region of the second transverse side has a second
anti-lift protection. It is prevented on account of the anti-lift protection

that the connection between the scaffold platform and the cross bars is
inadvertently released, or the scaffold platform is inadvertently lifted for
example by way of a wind gust.
This embodiment is particularly advantageous when the first scaffold
platform body comprises part of the first transverse side and part of the
second transverse side, and the second scaffold platform body comprises
part of the first transverse side and part of the second transverse side,
wherein anti-lift protections are provided only in the region of the first
transverse side on the first scaffold platform body and in the region of the
second transverse side on the second scaffold platform body. In this case,
the anti-lift protections are disposed so as to be mutually offset in a
diagonal manner. On account thereof, only the second anti-lift protection
has to be initially released in order for the second scaffold platform body
to be folded onto the first scaffold platform body for the scaffold platform
to be disassembled. The first anti-lift protection can be subsequently
released in order for the scaffold platform in its entirety to be
disassembled from the cross bars. In other words, there is no need for
two anti-lift protections to be simultaneously released in order for the
scaffold platform to be disassembled. In known scaffold platforms the
simultaneous release of two anti-lift protections specifically and repeatedly
leads to delays since the first anti-lift protection often locks up again when
the second anti-lift protection is released.
The first anti-lift protection and the second anti-lift protection can in each
case have at least one first locking hook which on the respective scaffold
platform body is guided in such a manner that said first locking hook in
the assembled position of the scaffold platform reaches the locked position
by way of gravity.

The first anti-lift protection and/or the second anti-lift protection herein
can in each case have one second locking hook which on the respective
scaffold platform body is guided in such a manner that said second locking
hook in the assembled position of the scaffold platform reaches the locked
position by way of gravity, wherein the first locking hooks are in each case
interconnected with the second locking hooks at the end side by way of a
bracket.
The articulation axis runs preferably in the plane of the walk-on upper side
io of the scaffold platform or above the plane of the scaffold platform so
as
to enable simple and in particular complete "folding" of the scaffold
platform.
The first scaffold platform body in the region of the articulation assembly
can have a first longitudinal brace that runs parallel with the articulation
axis, and the second scaffold platform body in the region of the
articulation assembly can have a second longitudinal brace that runs
parallel with the articulation axis, wherein the articulation is at least
partially integrated in the first longitudinal brace and/or the second
longitudinal brace. The scaffold platform in this case is configured so as to
be particularly robust.
The articulation in a manner which in terms of construction is simple can
be configured in the form of a hinge assembly. The hinge assembly
preferably has a plurality of hinges.
The hinge assembly can have a first hinge plate which is connected to the
first scaffold platform body, wherein the hinge assembly furthermore has
a second hinge plate which is connected to the second scaffold platform
body.

The hinge plates of the hinge assembly in the assembled state of the
scaffold platform can be disposed so as to be parallel with the walk-on
upper side of the scaffold platform. On account thereof, the hinge
assembly is disposable on the scaffold platform bodies in a particularly
simple manner.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention the hinge plates of the
hinge assembly in the assembled state of the scaffold platform are
io disposed so as to be perpendicular to the upper side of the scaffold
platform. The hinge plates in this case are fastened to longitudinal end
sides of the scaffold platform bodies.
Alternatively thereto, the hinge plates can also be fastened to the scaffold
platform bodies at other angles.
The production of the scaffold platform is significantly simplified when at
least two scaffold platform bodies, in particular all scaffold platform
bodies, are of identical configuration.
In a further embodiment of the scaffold platform the scaffold platform on
the upper side thereof and on the lower side thereof has a walk-on
platform face. The platform faces herein preferably extend across the
entire width of the scaffold platform bodies. The scaffold platform in this
case, in the folded state, can be used as a scaffold platform of reduced
width for walking on a scaffold.
In order for the unfolding of the folded scaffold platform to be facilitated
when the scaffold platform is being assembled, the scaffold platform can
have a folding aid, in particular in the form of an activation means that
Pen GmbH
SP11582PCT

CA 02988820 2017-12-08

extends in the transverse direction of the scaffold platform, preferably in
the form of a belt, said activation means being connected to the second
scaffold platform body. The folding aid can be configured in the form of a
bracket, a rope, a chain or the like.
The folding aid herein can have a connection means in order for the
folding aid to be connected to itself and/or to the first scaffold platform
body. Alternatively or additionally thereto, connection means for receiving
the folding aid can be provided on the first scaffold platform body. On
lo account thereof, a scaffold platform in the folded state can be secured
against being unfolded.
In order for the weight of the scaffold platform to be reduced, the first
scaffold platform body and the second scaffold platform body are
preferably configured from aluminum.
The scaffold platform can have more than two mutually pivotable scaffold
platform bodies. The scaffold platform in this case preferably has three
scaffold platform bodies. Furthermore preferably, the central scaffold
platform body on an end side when viewed in the longitudinal direction of
the scaffold platform, i.e. on the first transverse side of said central
scaffold platform body, has a first anti-lift protection. At least one of the
outer scaffold platform bodies on the opposite second transverse side can
have a second anti-lift protection. Furthermore, both outer scaffold
platform bodies on the second transverse side can in each case have one
anti-lift protection. Also, one of the outer scaffold platform bodies on the
first transverse side can have a second anti-lift protection, and the other
outer scaffold platform body on the opposite second transverse side can
have a third anti-lift protection. In a particularly preferred embodiment of

SP11582PCT - 10 -
06/14/2017
the invention the two outer scaffold platform bodies are of identical
configuration.
The object according to the invention is furthermore achieved by a
scaffold having a scaffold platform as described above.
The scaffold in the assembled state can have vertically aligned scaffold
stubs and horizontally aligned cross bars, wherein a first scaffold stub by
way of a first cross bar is connected to a second scaffold stub, and a third
io scaffold stub by way of a second cross bar is connected to a fourth
scaffold stub, wherein the first transverse side of the scaffold platform is
connected to the first cross bar, and the second transverse side of the
scaffold platform is connected to the second cross bar.
In a preferred embodiment of the scaffold the spacing between the
longitudinal sides of the scaffold platform corresponds to at least the
available width between the first scaffold stub and the second scaffold
stub. The spacing between the longitudinal sides of the scaffold platform
particularly preferably corresponds to the spacing between the axes of the
first scaffold stub and of the second scaffold stub. The width of the
scaffold platform in this case protrudes beyond the available width
between the scaffold stubs such that the scaffold as a walk-on scaffold is
configured so as to be particularly wide and safe in terms of falling.
The object according to the invention is furthermore achieved by a
method for assembling a scaffold as described above, said method having
the following method steps:
a) disposing the first scaffold platform body on cross bars of the
scaffold;

b) pivoting open the second scaffold platform body about the
pivot axis of the articulation;
c) disposing the second scaffold platform body on the cross bars.
The method steps are preferably carried out so as to be directly
sequential.
Further advantages and features of the invention are derived from the
description hereunder of the drawing and from the patent claims. The
io features in the case of variants of the invention can each be
implemented

second scaffold platform body 24. The scaffold platform bodies 22, 24 are
disposed so as to be mutually pivotable by way of hinges 26. The hinges
26 are preferably of identical configuration. The hinges 26 form an
articulation 28 in the form of a hinge assembly. The articulation axis 30 of
the articulation 28 runs parallel with the central longitudinal axis (not
illustrated) of the scaffold platform 10. The articulation axis 30 herein is
equally spaced apart from the longitudinal sides 22, 24. Said articulation
axis 30 runs parallel with the longitudinal sides 22, 24.
The first scaffold platform body 22 on the first transverse side 16 has a
first anti-lift protection 32, and the second scaffold platform body 24 on
the second transverse side 18 has a second anti-lift protection 34. The
anti-lift protections 32, 34 are disposed in a mutually diagonal manner. In
the present case, the first scaffold platform body 22 on the second
transverse side 18 does not have any anti-lift protection, and the second
scaffold platform body 24 on the first transverse side 16 likewise does not
have any anti-lift protection. The disassembly of the scaffold platform 10
is significantly simplified on account thereof since only the second anti-lift
protection 34 has to be initially released in the disassembly. The second
scaffold platform body 24 can then subsequently be folded about the
articulation axis 30 onto the first scaffold platform body 12. The first anti-
lift protection 32 can then be released, and the scaffold platform 10 can
be lifted completely from the cross bars (not shown) of the scaffold (not
shown).

Figure lb shows an enlarged fragment of the region that is framed with
dashed lines of the scaffold platform 10 according to figure la. The hooks
20 by way of which the scaffold platform bodies 22, 24 can be placed on
cross bars (not shown) are clearly visible in figure lb. It can be
furthermore seen in figure lb that the first anti-lift protection 32 has a
first locking hook 36 and a second locking hook 38 which are
interconnected by way of a bracket 40. The locking hooks 36, 38 are
guided through passage recesses 42 and by way of gravity automatically
reach the locked position as is illustrated in figure lb. The second anti-lift
protection 34 (cf. figure la) is configured in a manner analogous to that of
the first anti-lift protection 32.
Figure lc shows the scaffold platform 10 according to figure la in the
folded or folded-up state, respectively. The second scaffold platform body
24 herein has been pivoted about the articulation axis 30 by 180 relative
to the first scaffold platform body 22. The lower side of the second
scaffold platform body 24 is visible in figure lc or faces upward,
respectively. The lower side illustrated can have a walk-on platform face
(not shown) such that the scaffold platform 10 can be used as a "half-
width" scaffold platform. In this case, scaffold platforms 10 of only one
type rather than scaffold platforms with a full width and scaffold platforms
with half a width need to be stocked. This is particularly advantageous
when the scaffold platform 10 is used on a scaffold (not shown) in the
form of a facade scaffold in the insulation work of a building. Specifically,
the scaffold width for applying insulation material can be reduced herein
without the scaffold platform 10 having to be replaced by a narrower
scaffold platform or without one of two comparatively narrow scaffold
platforms having to be removed.

As opposed to the illustration shown in figure 1c, if the second scaffold
platform body 24 is pivoted relative to the first scaffold platform body 22
by only 90 , the second scaffold platform body 24 can be used as a toe
board.
Figure 2 shows a scaffold 44 having a scaffold platform 10. The scaffold
44 has a first scaffold stub 46 and a second scaffold stub 48. A first cross
bar 50 is disposed between the scaffold stubs 46, 48. The scaffold 44
furthermore has a third scaffold stub 52 and a fourth scaffold stub 54. A
io second cross bar 56 is disposed between the scaffold stubs 52, 54. In
the
assembled state of the scaffold platform 10 the scaffold platform 10 is
disposed between the cross bars 50, 56. In the completely assembled
state of the scaffold platform 10, i.e. in the fully unfolded state thereof,
the width of the scaffold platform 10 protrudes past the axial spacing of
the scaffold stubs 46, 48 and the axial spacing of the scaffold stubs 52,
54. The scaffold platform 10 on account thereof as a walk-on scaffold
platform 10 is particularly safe.
Figure 3a shows a further scaffold 44 having a scaffold platform 10 in the
assembly thereof. The scaffold platform 10 has a first scaffold platform
body 22 and the second scaffold platform body 24. In order for the
scaffold platform 10 to be assembled, the first scaffold platform body 22 is
first placed onto cross bars, wherein only one first cross bar 50 is
schematically indicated in figure 3a. The second scaffold platform body 24
is subsequently unfolded in the direction of an arrow 58. In order for this
"unfolding procedure" to be facilitated, a folding aid 60, in particular in
the form of a belt, can be disposed on the second scaffold platform body
24.

Figure 3b shows the scaffold platform 10 in the unfolded state in the
scaffold 44. It can be seen in figure 3b that the scaffold platform 10 has a
plurality of longitudinal braces 62 in order for the scaffold platform 10 to
be reinforced.
Figure 4 shows a further scaffold 44 having a scaffold platform 10. It can
be seen in figure 4 that the width B of the scaffold platform 10 in the
folded state of the scaffold platform 10 is so narrow that the scaffold
platform 10 can be readily gripped and transported in a simple manner by
io a construction worker. The width B is in particular 15 cm to 60 cm,
preferably 25 cm to 50 cm, particularly preferably 30 cm to 40 cm.
Figure 5 shows a further scaffold platform 10 having a first scaffold
platform body 22 and a second scaffold platform body 24. The scaffold
platform bodies 22, 24 are interconnected by a hinge 26. The hinge 26
has a first hinge plate 64 and a second hinge plate 66. The hinge plates
64, 66 are connected to the upper sides of the scaffold platform body 22,
24, i.e. in the assembled state of the scaffold platform 10 are connected
horizontally to the scaffold platform bodies 22, 24.
Figure 6 shows a further scaffold platform 10 having a first scaffold
platform body 22 and a second scaffold platform body 24. A hinge 26 is
disposed between the scaffold platform bodies 22, 24. Hinge plates 64, 66
of the hinge 26 in the case of the embodiment of the scaffold platform 10
shown in figure 6 in the assembled state of the scaffold platform 10 are
connected vertically to the scaffold platform bodies 22, 24.
Alternatively to the embodiments of the hinges 26 shown in figures 5 and
6, it is also conceivable for a first hinge plate to be disposed horizontally

(cf. figure 5), or at another angle, and for a second hinge plate to be
disposed vertically (cf. figure 6), or at another angle.
Figure 7 shows a further embodiment of a scaffold platform 10. The
scaffold platform 10 has a first scaffold platform body 22 and a second
scaffold platform body 24. The scaffold platform bodies 22, 24 have in
each case one web 62. An articulation 28 of the scaffold platform 10 is
configured so as to be integral to the web 62.
Figure 8a shows a further scaffold platform 10. The scaffold platform 10
has a first scaffold platform body 22, a second scaffold platform body 24,
and a third scaffold platform body 68. All scaffold platform bodies 22, 24,
68 have a first transverse side 16 and a second transverse side 18. The
scaffold platform bodies 22, 24, 68 by way of the respective transverse
sides 16, 18 thereof are disposable on cross bars (cf. for example the
cross bars 50, 56 according to figure 2). The scaffold platform bodies 22,
24, 68 are in each case preferably fastenable directly to cross bars (cf. for
example the cross bars 50, 56 according to figure 2).
Figure 8b shows the scaffold platform 10 according to fig. 8a in a
partially folded state. The scaffold platform bodies 22, 24 herein by way of
a first articulation 28 are disposed so as to be mutually pivotable.
Furthermore, the scaffold platform bodies 22, 68 by way of a second
articulation 70 are disposed so as to be mutually pivotable.
Figure 8c shows the scaffold platform 10 according to figures 8a and 8b
in a completely folded state. The scaffold platform 10 herein in the folded
state in which the former is readily transportable has half the width as
compared to the unfolded state. The two outer scaffold platform bodies
24, 68 thus have half the width of the central scaffold platform body 22.

In a modified embodiment of the scaffold platform 10, the outer scaffold
platform bodies 24, 68 can also be narrower or wider than half the width
of the central scaffold platform body 22. The configuration of the scaffold
platform body 10 having more than two scaffold platform bodies 22, 24,
68, in particular having three scaffold platform bodies 22, 24, 68,
facilitates the unfolding of the scaffold platform 10. All previously
discussed features of the scaffold platform bodies 10 according to figures
1 to 7 can also be applied in analogous manner to the scaffold platform 10
having more than two scaffold platform bodies 22, 24, 68.
Performing a collective view of all figures of the drawing, the invention in
summary relates to a foldable scaffold platform 10. The scaffold platform
10 has a first scaffold platform body 22 and a second scaffold platform
body 24, 68. The scaffold platform bodies 22, 24, 68 are interconnected
by way of an articulation 28, 70, in particular in the form of a hinge
assembly. The scaffold platform 10 for the assembly, disassembly, and
transportation thereof, can be folded by way of the articulation 28, 70.
The width of the scaffold platform 10 is reduced in the folded state of said
scaffold platform 10. The width of the scaffold platform 10 in the folded
state is preferably halved. Each scaffold platform body 22, 24, 68 on the
end sides when viewed in the longitudinal direction of the scaffold
platform 10 preferably has in each case connection means, in particular in
the form of hooks 20, for connecting the scaffold platform 10 to cross bars
50, 56 of a scaffold 44. Furthermore preferably, the scaffold platform 10
at the end sides thereof when viewed in the longitudinal direction, i.e. on
the transverse side 16, 18 has in each case one anti-lift protection 32, 34.
The anti-lift protections 32, 34 are preferably disposed so as to be
mutually diagonal such that in the folded state of the scaffold platform 10
only a first anti-lift protection 32 locks the scaffold platform 10 to a first
cross bar 50.
