Containers of thi~ kind u~;ually have three trianular foldin~
partrt at each corner. ~o~Jever, three folding parts of the aforeMentioned
kind cannot of course en~ure high stability. At all e~ent6, the prior-
art containers of thi~, ~ind u6ually have a fold or s.imilar reinforcement
at the ed~e. ~or e~ample, in the de~cription of a kno~m container (Ger~.an
OS 18 10 600, US PS 35 36 248), the poriribility of doing ~ithout an
aforementioned folded edge ir. mentioned but the only embodiment r.ho~m
and deOcribed in detail har an aforementioned folded ed~e. Of cour~.e,
the folded ed~e increares the co~plexity of the conrtruction and
~nufacture of the container. In addition, the ~:no~m container har. to
be Omall (it ~urt be posOible to eat it from it directly). It i~ clear
that, aO a re~.ult of its con6truction~ itô dinenrionO cannot exceed a
certain ~mall value.
The object of the invention ir. to conrtruct a container of the
initially-~entioned kind w]lich io r7iMple in con6truction and, even if
made relatively la~e, ir r.ufficiently ~table to store liquidr and other
ca~ily-flo~in~ bu~s rubr.tancer..
To thi~ end, accordin~ to the invention, ~.even folding partr are

If the container i~ rrade of cardboard~ the ~itability rnay a~ivan-
taceously be ~reatly increased if multi-layer cardboard io u~ed.
The container can be folded after the ~i~e in the r~ulti-layer cardboard
has hardened. If, however, it i~ folded before the ~,ize harden~,
no additional ~izinr i~ needed for r~aintaining à ~table fold after the
folding pre~ure or tool has been removed. It ha~ been found
particularly advantageou~ to make the container of five-layer cardboard.
A particularly ~uitable rDaterial is Scandinavian quality Kraftboard
or soda paper. The thic!-ne~r, of each layer of rnaterial should be about
300 g/m and 0.5 r~n, in order to have a container ~hich iz particularly
~uitable for the de~ired purpor;e. The layers can be ~i~ed with
polyvinyl alcohol ~,ize or di~per~ion or fu~ion ac7hesive; the~e r~aterial~
have been foun~ particularly ~uitable. -Of course1 other kinds of ~ize
r1ay alr/o be u~ed.
The advantage~ of the cont~iner according to the invention can be
fully u~.ed if the capacity i8 at leaOt 56 litrer,. A cap~city of 56
litrer rnaker, full use of the advantager, of the container according
to the invention and ir, al~o comatible ~ith the Otandard~ for
packa~in~. ~arer-capacity container~ ray al~o advantageou~ly be u~ed,
and of course container~ can also be r~anufactured for sr3aller capacities.
In order further to increase the ~,tability of the container and protect
its top ed~e, the edge can be provided l!ith a flanged r3etal strip
preferably about o.8 rrr, thic~. The r;letal ~trip of course also
prevents the fold re-opcnin~.
The container can have an in~ardly projecting bead or corrugation
parallel to and under the edge. ~hi~ fcat-lre further increa~e~
~tability. In addition, if the container ha~ a cover, the projection
can forr3 a bearin~ ~urface for the cover, ~:hich can tilen bc ~ccured on

The coverO in question are mainly made of l~ood~ board, metal,
plastic~, pa)er or similar matcrial~, Alternati~,ely, the cover can
be a ~econd, some~hat ~maller container ~hich fits into the top edGe
of the larger container and rests on the projectin corrugation. This
of cour~e ~ill greatly increa~,e the capacity of the container.
