describes a
method and articles such as bandanas that keep the articles on the back of the

when they are walked. This is accomplished by providing an access hole for the
collar
hook in the middle at the front of the bandana. When the leash is attached to
the hook
and the dog is walked the bandana is held on the back of the dog. This method
will work
for winter coats, rain coats, costumes, etc. When the leash is not used, a
closure such
as velcro holds the hook access hole closed. The articles can be made for any
size of
dog or collar.

3. Claims
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege
is claimed
are defined as follows:
1. A novel method of attaching articles, such as bandanas, coats and costumes
to dog
collars so that the articles stay on the back when a leash is attached and the
dog or
pet is taken for a walk.
2. An article, for example a bandana, that slips over a collar and has a hole
half way
along the front of the bandana. The hole is formed by leaving the hole section
of the
seam unsewed. This allows the collar hook to push through and when the leash
is
attached and the dog is walked the article remains on the back of the pet or
animal.
3. A closure such as velcro, snaps or buttons to keep the hook access hole
closed
when a leash is not used.
4. All articles containing this system for attachment to dog collars are
claimed.
5. All articles can be made to fit any pet size or collar size.

2. Specification
Description
1. This invention relates to a novel method of attaching articles to pet
collars and the
articles themselves. The method ensures that the articles, such as bandanas,
stay
on the backs of the pets when the pets are walked on a leash.
2. Many types of pets such as dogs, do not like wearing items of clothing such
as
bandanas, coats, raincoats, winter coats or costumes for Christmas and
Halloween
etc. They will try and shake them off or bite them and will often refuse to
walk on a
leash with them on. As an example, bandanas are frequently tied around the
necks of dogs but dogs do not like to have items around their neck and will
try and
bite them off. Dogs will try and shake off traditional dog coats that fit
around their
legs and attach at their chest. Dogs on the other hand are very used to
wearing
collars and these collars typically have a clasp for easy attachment and
detachment and hook for attachment of the leash. Bandanas that slip over the
collar exist and cause little or no concern to the dogs. However when a leash
is
attached to the collar holding the existing slip on bandanas, the bandanas
slip from
the back of the dog to the side or throat of the dog so that the dog cannot be
walked on a leash with the bandana on its back. Pet owners want the bandanas
to
be visible on the back and other items such as winter coats, rain coats and
costumes only work when they are on the back of the dog.
3. The articles of this invention slip over the collar and contain a collar
hook hole half
way across the article that allows the hook of the collar to pass through and
be
accessible for attachment to the leash. Thus when the leash is attached and
the
dog is walked the article, such as a bandana, will be held in the middle of
the dogs
back and will not slip from side to side of the dog. Furthermore the dog will
not try
to remove the article from its back.
4. The following describes the invention in more detail:

drawing of a bandana before the top and bottom are sewed together. Figure
2 is a drawing of a bandana after it is sewn into the final form showing the
position of the collar hook hole. Figure 3 is a drawing from the front of the
bandana showing the collar hook hole, a collar and collar hook pushed
through the hole and a leash attached to the hook. Figure 4 is a drawing of a
dog wearing a bandana with the leash attached illustrating the bandana
stabilized on the back of the dog.
o In the case of the bandana, two pieces of cloth are used which allows for
two
different patterns and a reversible bandana. The hole is positioned at the
front of the seam so that either side can face up when the collar leash is
pushed through. The hole is created by not sewing the seam completely

across the front of the bandana as shown in Figure 1. ',/Vhen the leash is not
use. the hole can be held shut with a fastener such as velcro sew on both
nsice sides of the cloth, snaps or a button with button nole. Other iterns are
similarly constructed. The bandana can be sized for any sze of dog or Cog
collar by adjusting the size of the pattern, adjusting the width of the of the
collar slip on hole, and adjusting the size of the collar hook hole.
