ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A substrate plate device having integrated synthetic resin members
is provided by that a synthetic resin member is combined with and secured to
a substrate plate integrally at the time of molding thereof by means of a
single hole provided in said substrate plate and having a spreading-out shape
like an unfolded fan or a plurality of such holes disposed extremely adjacent
to one another.

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

1. A plate assembly comprising a metallic substrate plate having a
member of synthetic plastic material bonded thereon through one or more
bonding apertures in the said plate, characterised in that the said
bonding aperture or apertures include at least one portion extending towards
an edge of the said plate radially from the said bonding aperture, or
radially from the centre of a group of such apertures, the said portion
or portions having an enlarged width at their outer end.

2. A substrate plate device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said
synthetic plastic member is of a substrate base shape.

3. A substrate plate device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said
synthetic plastic member protrudes through said aperture or apertures onto
the rear surface of said substrate plate to form a locking element on said
rear surface.

4. A substrate plate device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said
plastic is polyacetal.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
FIELD OF TXE INVENTION
This invention relates to a substra-te plate device for use in a
tape recorder, a radio receiver, a watch and the like which comprises a sub-
strate plate of a metal and a synthetic resin member such as a substrate base
of a synthetic resin combined with the former integrally with high accuracy.
Various substrate plate devices have been known in the art. Some
has the construction wherein a functional member such as a substrate base is
secured to a metallic substrate plate by caulking while the other has a sub-
strate which is as a whole integrally formed by a synthetic resin material.
In recent years, a so-called "out-sert molded article" has gained
a wide application in which a synthetic resin functional member is secured
integrally to a metallic substrate plate having proper locking holes at the
time of molding of the same. (In this type of device, the relation between
the synthetic resin and the metal at the locking portion is opposite to the
relation in the conventional "insert-type" device, hence, the device is re-
ferred to as an "out-sert" device. For detail of the out-sert molding, refer
to "Plastics", Vol. 26, No. 12, pages 52-53).
The present invention relates to a substrate plate device which can
be obtained easily by the above mentioned "out-sert" molding process and pro-
vides a substrate plate device of high dimensional accuracy having especially
a relatively large synthetic resin functional member.
This invention relates to a plate assembly comprising a metallic

Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be ex-
plained with reference to the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a substrate plate device having
a substrate base thereon;

with the present invention wherein Figure 7 is a plan view of an example of
the substrate plate according to the present invention; Figure 8 is a plan
view showing the state of shrinkage at the locking hole portion in the pres-
ent device; Figures 9 through 16 are plan views showing the shapes of the
various slit holes of the present device, respectively; Figure 17 is a rear
view of an example of the substrate plate which is partially locked on the
rear surface thereof; and Figure 18 is a rear view of an example of the sub-
strate plate which is locked on the entire rear surface thereof.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ARTS
Figure 1 illustrates an outlook of a typical substrate plate de-
vice in which a functional member 2 of a base shape is shown disposed and
locked on a substrate plate 1. The substrate plate device of this type

conventionally comprises a substrate plate and a functional member of a syn-
thetic resin such as those illustrated in Figures 2 through 4.
In Figure 2, a construction is shown in which locking is effected -
at and by means of plural independent holes 3, 4, 5 and 6. The dotted lines
in these Figures (and also in the following Figures) indicate the outer cir-
cumference of the substrate base secured on the substrate plate respectively.
The above mentioned locking will be generally enhanced and
strengthened by the synthetic resin member that has protruded through the
holes onto the surface of the substrate plate at the rear surface thereof.
However, explanation on this point will hereinafter be omitted unless re-
quired specifically. In the device of this type, the mold shrinkage of the
synthetic resin will cause deformation of the substrate plate as shown in
Figure 5.
In Figure 5, the reference numeral 9 designates a synthetic resin
member; 10 is a substrate platej and 11 is a rear surface locking element of
the synthetic resin member.
To cope with this problem of deformation, those deformation-free
devices~have also been proposed which have holes 7, 8 for the substrate plate
of a circular shape (such as in Figure 3) or a radial shape (such as in Fig-
ure 4). However, since the shrinkage of the synthetic resin does not apply
any force to the substrate plate in such devices, these devices can solve
the problem of deformation, but they yet involve another problem. ~amely,
because the substrate plate and the synthetic resin are not secured tightly
to each other at the hole portions of the substrate plate after the shrink-
age of the synthetic resin, unstableness, dimensional inaccuracy and the like
tend to occur therebetween, as shown in Figure 6, wherein the full line 12
indicates the shapes of the hole in the substrate plate as well as of the
synthetic resin before the shrinkage, while the dotted line 13 indicates the
shape of the synthetic resin after shrinkage.
As mentioned above, there has been no prior art device which can

remove the above defects of deformation and unsteadiness.
SUMMARY AND DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The device in accordance with the present invention is character-
ized essentially in that the synthetic resin functional member is secured and
locked by means of a single hole provided in the substrate plate and having
a spreading-out shape like an unfolded fan or a plurality of such holes dis-
posed extremely adjacent to one another.
Figure 7 illustrates an example of the substrate plate in accor-
dance with the present invention which has the same outlook as the one illus-

trated in Figure 1. In this Figure 7, the reference numeral 14 designates anexample of the above me~tioned hole of the present invention and the dotted
line indicates the outer circumference of the synthetic resin member.
In this type of device, the synthetic resin having the shape indi-
cated by line 15 at the hole portion will cause shrinkage substantially in
like figures as indicated by the dotted line 16 in Figure 8 and will adhere
to the substrate plate even after the shrinkage as shown in Figure 8, thereby
neither causing unsteadiness nor applying any force to the substrate plate
and preventing the deformation, consequently.
In the present device, the fan shape as illustrated in Figure 8 is
most preferred. However, in case a certain unsteadiness is allowable, or on
the contrary, in case a certain deformation is allowable or the`anisotropic
property of the resin is large, various shapes such as shown in Figures 9 to
Figure 16 may also be employed within the scope and object of the present in-
vention. In other words, these shapes are merely illustrative, and a number
of proper shapes can be worked out by combining these shapes or modifying
them as desired within the scope of the present invention.
In most of these examples as shown in Figures 9-16, the corner of
the hole has been shown sharp. However, it is also preferable to provide the
hole having the corners of a smooth curve in order to eliminate a notch
effect.



In the present device, the locking element of the synthetic resin
protruded through the hole on to the rear surface of the substrate plate for
strengthening the lock may be either partial as indicated by the dotted line
17 in Figure 17 or be the whole as indicated by the dotted line 18 in Figure
18.
It is a still preferred embodiment of the present invention to min-
imize the unsteadiness by applying a treatment such as bending, corrugation,
tapering, surface treatment and so forth to the surface of the substrate
plate. Further, a part of the resin existing in the slit hole may be re-

moved.
Though the device of the present invention has hereinbefore beendescribed with particular reference to the device having a resin member of a
substrate base shape, it can be adapted to various other shapes and conse-
quently, is not specifically restricted to the shape described. Furthermore,
the device of this invention may be connected to another device via a syn-
thetic resin member of a relatively deformable material such as runner and
the like, or adapted only to a specific section of a large-sized device.
As explained above, the device of this invention can be used widely -
as a component of such products as a watch, electric and electronic appli-
ances, toys, etc., and is especially suited for a large-sized synthetic resin
body and a precision component.
As the synthetic resin material, crystalline resins such as poly-
acetal are especially useful in the present invention. However, other
thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins in general may be used sim-
ilarly.
