English Abstract

Abstract
In a connecting nipple for a valve, a nipple body (1) has an
external screwthread (3) at one end and at the other end an insert
section (4) with an annular abutment face (5) projecting beyond the
screwthread diameter. Its flow passage contains an adjustable throttle
element (11) connected to an actuating member (12). Between the
external screwthread (3) and the insert section (4), the nipple body
(1) contains a setting aperture (9) through which the throttle element
(11) is accessible for adjustment. This setting aperture is sealed from
the flow passage by means of a seal (16,17). Preferably, the actuating
member (12) is disposed within the screwthread diameter (3).

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A connecting nipple for a valve, comprising:
a nipple body having a throughflow passage, a transverse
wall extending across said passage and having a non-
centrally arranged fixed flow aperture therethrough, an
external screwthread at one end, and an insert section at
the other end with an annular abutment face projecting
beyond the screwthread diameter; an adjustable throttle
element connected to an actuating member and disposed in the
throughflow passage, said throttle element comprising a
rotatable insert including an end wall which lies against
said transverse wall and a rotatable flow aperture extending
through said end wall for cooperation with the fixed flow
aperture, said actuating member comprising a substantially
cylindrical extension of said insert having formations in
the outer surface thereof for engagement by a tool; a setting
aperture disposed in the nipple body between the external
screwthread and the insert section, through which aperture
the throttle element is accessible for adjustment by said
tool; and seal means sealing said setting aperture from the
throughflow passage.
2. A connecting nipple according to claim 1,
wherein the actuating member is disposed within the screw-
thread diameter.
3. A connecting nipple according to claim 1,
wherein both the fixed and the rotatable flow apertures are
eccentric to the axis of said throughflow passage.
-10-

4. A connecting nipple according to claim 1
wherein said formations are differently spaced
circumferentially.
5. A connecting nipple according to one of claims
2 to 4, wherein said seal means comprises two sealing rings
extending along the circumference of said rotatable insert
at both sides of said setting aperture.
6. A connecting nipple according to one of claims
1, 2 or 3 wherein said throttle element has a position in
which said throughflow passage is completely closed.
