English Abstract

Abstract of the Disclosure

This invention relates to a support cushion between the chin and chest
of a user that is orally inflatable and easily removable. Its purpose
is to ease the neck strain and resultant muscle stiffness as the head
drops forward in drowsiness on long trips. In its inflated form the
cushion is torsidal with diminishing diameters towards free ends that
are provided with ties.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

- 3 -

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or
privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. An inflatable chin support cushion having an upper crescent-shaped
portion and a lower crescent-shaped portion sealed along matching
edges, air access to the space there between and wherein end
portions of the cushion are spaced and provided with ties, one of
which functions as an inflation tube.

2. The cushion of claim 1 wherein an end remote from its inflation
end has an interior stop wall.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

.t 1 ~ J

This inventi()n relates to an inilatable ring-like cushion that supports
the neck and ch-in of a user when on long tr-ip or air flights where
there is a tendency for the chin to drop forward on the chest when
napping. This places an unnatutdl strain on the neck mllscles.

The toroidal cushion of this invention prevents this stra-in an(l the
resultant sti~F neck.

In constrllction duplicate crescent-shaped hianks are heat sealed along
their rnatchiny eclges with an inflatable space and air access
therebetween. Any plastic or other airtight material that is heat
sealable may be used.

In its inflated form tne cushion is toroidal with diminishing diameters
towards its free ends. These free ends are provided with hollow ties
at least one of which functions as an inflation tube.

The cushion is assembled wi-th the ties hanging down in front. The air
access tie permits oral inflation of the cushion and the ties are tied
together to retain the air in the cushion. The cushion is rotated 180
degrees so that its maximum diameter comes under the chin of the user.

In further description of -the invention reference is made to the
accompanying drawings wherein

Figure 1 is a plan view of the cushion and
Figure 2 shows the cushion supporting the user s chin.

As shown in Figure 1 crescent shaped cushion 1 is inflatable into a
toroid with a maximum diameter in its mid-portion and decreasing
diameters towards a pair of the ends 2 2~ One oF the tie ends is

hollow for inflation purposes. An interior end wall is shown at 3 to
trap the inflation air wlthin the cushion, The heat sealed edge of the
cushion is shown at A.

Figure 2 shows the cushlon in assembly, prov1ding a support between
chi n and chest.

It is thus seen that the objectlves of thls Invent10n are achleve~
