ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
In apparatus for applying pieces of fabric to manufactured articles
of tubular shape, and especially to panty hose, a photoelectric cell is
employed to reveal the presence of the manufactured article on its stand and
to bring the fabric close to the article in the corresponding station only if
the article is present on its stand. In order to have both the fabric and the
article rotated, in the corresponding clipping station, by an angle greater
than 360°, so that one border of the fabric reaches, in the following sewing
station, a position different from the position of arrival at the said clipping
station, a device is used that controls the rotation of the stand supporting
the manufactured article. Such a device can be, for instance, a reader provided
with a programmed memory so that the readout from a graduated cylindrical scale
is stored in the memory and, as soon as the rotation is completed by the amount
stored in the memory, the said device arrests the rotation of the stand. In
order to have both the fabric and the manufactured article rotated, at the
sewing station, by an angle greater than 360° so that the seam is made, without
discontinuity, along the entire border of the article, another device, similar
to the previous one, is used.
