English Abstract

Abstract of the Disclosure
This invention relates to a rocking frame implement and support roller on
common axes. A tilt to rock connection from a propelling machine provides
pressure loading on the support roller and implement. This ensures that
ground penetration is incremental and precise for tools that are mounted on
the rocking frame of the implement.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property
or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. A rocking frame implement transversely attachable to a
tilt mechanism on a propelling machine having a ground contacting support
roller with its axis of rotation in a transverse median plane of the
frame so located that the axis of the roller is the rocking axis of the
implement, and having earth working tools mounted fore and aft on the
rocking frame, said tools being interchangeable with other tools of
similar dimensions, wherein the diameter of the support roller is
greater than the diameter of the tools, thus providing a ground
clearance position when the rocking frame is horizontal.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

I

This invention relates to a multiple tool implement attachable to the
liftable bucket of a front end loader

In the construction of the implement, a transverse lockable frame overlies a
central ground engaging roller and is lockable about the roller axis. This
motion is somewhat analogous to a teeter totter rocking about a mid-point.
Diverse tools are attached to the frame, one on the front and one on the
rear. These may be interchanged with further options.

The support roller is free wheeling with propulsion of the implement coming
from the machine to which it is attached. Side brackets on the frame
trunnion the end shafts of the roller for free rotation of the roller. The
roller diameter may be constructed relatively small, enabling it to follow
uneven ground contours.

Since the rocking movements to bring a tool into and out of ground
engagement are incremental and precise and occur about the support roller
axis, the steps of scarifying, rolling, grading and leveling are superior
to those presently in use.

The aforesaid motions are imparted to the implement and its tools by the
-tilt controls for the bucket on the propelling machine.

It should be noted that the tilt to rock connection between a propelling
machine and this implement may take various forms without departing from the
spirit of the invention.

In further description of the invention reference is made to the
accompanying drawings wherein,

Figure 1 is a side view showing an implement
attachment to a propelling machine and,

Figure 2 is a plan view of the implement frame
and supporting roller in stripped form.

As shown in Figure 1, extensible means 1 on a propelling machine 2 tilts a
bucket 3 and a transverse implement frame 4 that is secured to the bucket at
4'. Ground support for the implement is a central transverse roller 5. This
roller is free wheeling and in ground contact for all operations. The axis
of the roller is the rocking axis of the implement.

Earth working tools are removably attached fore and aft on the implement
frame. A scarifies 6 at the front and a lovelier 7 at the rear would be
typical tools. These may be removed and others attached. The diameter of the
roller is such that the tools are out of ground contact when the frame is
horizontal, that is, when the frame has no forward tilt or rearward tilt.

Ground penetration is positive by reason of the power hookup from the
propelling machine with loading directly over the support roller axis of the
implement.

In further reference to Figure 1, scarifies 6 has been rocked down intoground engagement with the lovelier 7, at the rear of the frame, out of
ground engagement. As desired, these movements are reversible.

The frame is shown as an open box in Figure 2 but has a cover plate
providing an attachment surface for the bucket. The tandem relationship of
pusher and implement is maintained by side arms. These have been omitted for
purposes of clarity but connect to the implement in its median plane.
