English Abstract

ABSTRACT
The attachment comprises a support (3) which can be
fastened to the rear upper portion of a lavatory
pan (1), a ring seat (8) pivotably connected to the
support (3) and a bowl (4) connected to the support
for pivotable movement independently of the ring seat.
The bowl has an outwardly projecting rim (5) for
supporting the bowl on the ring seat when the latter
rests on the rim (20) of the pan and a tab (7) for
manually pivoting the bowl about its pivot axis. The
bowl has a discharge opening (6) closable, for example,
by a plug (15). A water supply unit (19) is mounted
on the support (3).

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

1. A bidet attachment for a lavatory pan having a rim
and mounting holes formed in a rear upper portion thereof,
the attachment comprising a support having bolts engageable
with the mounting holes, a ring seat pivotably connected to
the support, a bidet-bowl having a closable discharge
opening and being pivotably connected to the support such
that the bidet-bowl and the ring seat may be pivoted
independently relative to the support, means projecting
outwardly from the bidet-bowl for supporting the bidet-bowl
in an operative position on the ring seat when resting on
the rim of the pan, and a water supply unit mounted on the
support and attachable to a mains supply, the supply unit
incorporating hot and cold water taps and a discharge outlet
for feeding water into the bidet-bowl in the operative
position, whereby the bidet-bowl may be pivotably displaced
out of the operative position to allow use of the lavatory
pan without removal of the bidet attachment.

2. The attachment of claim 1, wherein the projecting
means comprises an outwardly projecting rim of the bidet-
bowl.

3. The attachment of claim 2, wherein the bidet-bowl
is provided with an outwardly projecting tab at a position
remote from the pivot axis of the bidet-bowl relative to the
support for manually pivoting the bidet-bowl about its axis.

4. The attachment of any one of claims 1, 2 or 3,
wherein a plug for closing the discharge opening in the
bidet-bowl is connected to the bidet-bowl by a flexible
elongate element.

"An attachment for a lavatory pan'l

This invention relates to an attachment for a
lavatory pan.
Broadly speaking the present invention provides a
bidet attachment for a lavatory pan having a rim and
mounting holes formed in a rear upper portion thereof, the
attachment comprising a support having bolts engageable with
the mounting holes, a ring seat pivotably connected to the
support, a bidet-bowl having a closable discharge opening
and being pivotably connectsd to the support such that the
bidet-bowl and the ring seat may be pivoted independently
relative to the support, mean projecting outwardly prom the
bidet-bowl eor ~uppor~lng the bidet-bowl in an operatlve
po~itlon on the rlng teat when feting on the rlm ox tllo
pan, and a water supply unit mounted on the support and
attachable to a mains supply, the supply unit incorporating
hot and cold water taps and a discharge outlet for feeding
water into the bidet-bowl in the operative position, whereby
the bidet-bowl may be pivotably displaced out of the
operative position to allow use of the lavatory pan without
remoYal of the bidet attachment.
Such an attachment can be fitted to a lavatory pan
instead of the standard cover and enables the lavatory pan
to be used as a bidet as well as in conventional manner.
The attachment according to the invention has particular
application in lavatories provided in mobile homes, and in
small rooms where there is insufficient room for the

provision of a separate bidet but it also has application in
larger lavatories where the cost of providing a separate
bidet would be much greater than employing an attachment
according to the invention.
Preferably, the projecting means comprises an
; outwardly projecting rim of the basin. In this way, the

C late (3) is fas t:ened to the rear upper ye (2) of the
lavatory pan (1 ) by threadecl bolts (provided with co-operat-
ing nuts whi.ch extend through the holes (9) and (9' ) in

and coyer to the pan. The plate (3~ supports two spindles
(10~ and (10') and a water supply unit l
A ring seat ~8) has two spaced lugs (11) and (12)
by which the ring seat is mounted for pivotable movement
on the spindles , and a bowl (4) has two spaced lugs (13)
and (14) by which the bowl is mounted or pivotable move-
ment~ independently ox the ring seat? on the spindle$,
The ring seat (8) is shaped so that it can rest
on the rim (20) oP the pan opening

by a plug (15) connected to the bowl by a flexible elongate
element which may be in the form o a chain l The
bowl is shaped sa as to fit into the pan l ,md so tha.t
any water in the bowl, when the latter is in a usable
position, will slow t-owa~ds the opening (6) when the latter
is not closed by the pluy (15)o
The water supply unit (19) comprises hot and cold
water inlets (17) (only one shoum) which can be connected
to a mains water supply by flexible hoses, and hot and
cold taps l anc1 (2~) hazing a common water outlet (16)
located so as to weed water into the bowl (4 ) when the
latter is in a usable positionO
When not in use the bowl (~) is pivoted rearwards
beyond a vertically upstanc1ing position as shawn in Figr 1
When the bowl is not in use the ring seat also can be
pivoted rearwards until it rests against the rim (5) of
the bQwl~
A lavatory pan Pitted with the ahove described
attachment can be used both in conventional rna~mer and
as a bidetO
