English Abstract

1Ø0.0- ABTRACT
"POUCH WITH STRAW" is a package for liquid, paste or jelly type
products. The pouch can have any size or shape. The material to
manufacture the pouch can be from plastic or paper product. The
straw has been incorporated with the pouch to guide the content of
the pouch out. The straw is sealed in the pouch when it is bieng
filled. The consumer opens the straw seal and the content of the
pouch will flow out through the straw, by tilting or squeezing the
pouch. The advantage of the straw in the package is that, the
material will only flow through the straw and the consumer will
just open the seal on the straw. It is easy to open the seal, it
is clean to pour the content of the pouch. And for drinks and
juices it is healthier to use a sealed straw.
This package can replace the existing packs of ketchups, jams,
mustard, syrops, soft drinks, juices and so on. Refer to figure #1
on page #1 of the drawings section for the "pouch with straw"
demonstration.

2Ø0.0- DISCLOSURE
"THE POUCH WITH STR~W" is a plastic or paper bag with a straw
sealed in the pouch at the manufacturing stage while the pouch
is being filled with the product. The pouch can be used to pack
liquid, syrops, paste, drinks, juices, jelly or glue and poxy type
products. The consumer opens the seal on the straw and the content
of the pouch can be poured, sucked or squeezed out through the
straw. Since the content of the pouch can only be poured out of the
package through the straw, it is clean to use. For opening the
package, the consumer has to open the seal on the straw and does
not have to tear the package as it is done on the existing packs
of ketchup and similar products for one time usage. "The pouch with
straw" can be used for drinks, ketchup, mustard, cream, jam, maple
syrop, relish or even for small salt and pepper pags.
Refer to figure #l on page #l of the drawings section for the
"pouch with straw" demonstration.
The size of the pouch and the diameter of the straw or its
geometrical shape (round or rectangular) is depend on the product
to be packed and its flow characteristics.

2.1Ø0- APPLICATION OF THE "POUCH WITH STRAW" :
The "pouch with straw" is intended to be used on packages of
liquids, jellyt paste type product for one time usage. The products

can be mixed together.
The double "pouche with straw" can be used for two products such
as " salt and pepper ", " ketchup and mustard " and so on. Refer
to figur- #2 on page #2 for the double pouch demonstration.

2.2Ø0- ADVANTAGES OF THE "POUCH WITH STRAW"
The "POUCH WITH STRAW" is mostly intended to be used for
spices~ appetizers, food, beverages and pharmaceutical products
that are used once. The existing pouches don't have straw built-in
with the package~ The built-in straw in the pouch allows the
product to be poured out only through th- straw.

The built-in straw in the pouch has many advantages. Such as;

2.2.1.0-
It is hleathy to have the straw sealed in the package at the
manufacturing stage. No separate straw is needed.
Applications; such as soft drinks and juices, milk, etc.

2.3Ø0- "THE POUCH WITH STR~W" M~NUFACTURING ~ETHOD;
There are several methods to manufacture the "pouch with straw".
One of these methods is being described in the following;

2.3.1.0- "POUCH WITH STR~W" M~NUF~TCURING M~CHINE ~

2 . 3 . 1 . 1- "POUCH WITH STRAW" M~NUF~CTURER M~CHINE OPER~TION ~-
From a two " one-ply" ~with different material or printings on
each ply) or, one i'two-ply plastic" roll that is pulled
hiorlizontally a continuous "u" channel will be made. ~Refer to
figure #3 on page #3 of the drawings section).
The "u" channel will be sealed vertically at intervals equal to the ~ `
pouchs width. The width of the seal will be few milimeters depending

on the product and the "u" channel material. Each side of the seal
will form one side of the pouch and the middle of the seal
will be cut to separate the pouches. The width of the plastic roll
(or the higth of the "u" channel) is depend on the length of the
pouch to be manufactured.
The hight of the vertical seal will be slightly higher than the
hight of the material (product) to be poured in to the pouch.
While the "u" channel.is being pulled horizontally and being sealed
incrementally (vertically), the product will be poured in to the
formed bags (or open top pouches). The next stage is to put the
straw in each pouch. The total legnth of the straw and the sealed
portion of the open top pouch will be equal to the the hight of the
"u" channel. ~t this stage where the material is in the pouch and
the straw is put in it. The top part will be sealed and cut like
an upside down "v" , where the straw will be in the middle of the
upside down "v" . Refer to figure #1, on page #1, for
demonstration.
The tip of the straw will be sealed separatly as follows;
~) With a roll of seals travelling prependicular to the direction
of the "u" channel.
~) The straw will be capped (plugged) first and then the cap will
be sealed as is mentioned in part "~" above. See figure #4 on
page #4 of the drawings section.

~2. 3. 1. 1- Cont inued~
The pouches at this stage will be cut and separated at the middle
of the interval seals which were made earl ier on the "u"
channel.
