English Abstract

ABSTRACT
A system for heating water with solar energy is disclosed.
The system comprises of a number of copper tubes which are mounted
into a wooden frame and connected by means of plastic piping to the
pool pump and the pool. A mirror is mounted behind these copper
pipes, a glass panel is mounted above these copper pipes. The water
circulates from the pool pump through these copper pipes into the
pool. The heat rays of the sun pass through the glass onto the
mirror where they are reflected onto the copper tubing which as a
result heats the water passing through these pipes.
The glass may be hammered or clear. The size of the glass and
the side of the mirror must match the size of the wooden frame.
The pipes must be copper to best retain heat.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY
OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

1. A solar heating system for water comprising:

a wooden panel;
a number of copper tubes mounted on said panel;
plastic piping leading from the pool pump to the
panel and then to the pool circulating water through the pipes.
a glass panel and a mirror panel

2. The system of claim 1 where said pipes are copper whereby
the heat is held longer when the water passes through these pipes,
and it is heated and passed into the pool.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Z01 !3746

This invention rela-tes generally to s~stems fsr heating water
with solar energy.
A problem which is common with other solar pan~s is that they
are not efM cient. If a garden hose is layed on the roof like many
people do, they ~ind that because they are ~ot enclosed, the ~ind
r~bs them of heat. Black panels have been ussd in the past, but
I have fou~d black is not as efficient as using a c~mbination of
glass and mirror. Because my system is enclosed9 the heat can
build up. My system has been in operatic~ ~or 6 years. With glass
and mirror you will get infer red rays t~apped between the mirror
and the glass. This b~ild up of heat ~ill heat the water passing
through the tubingO This tremendous build up of heat is necessary
to sufficiently heat the wa-ter. My panels are Plso efficient on
cloudy~ ha~y days~ when other systems will Pail. In spring and fall
they are alway9 50 degrees above the outside temperature. They
will range in spring ~orm 100 to 120 degrees; in summer ~hen the
out~ide temperature i~ gO to 90 degrees~ -they reach 150 degrees.
The amount o~ 40 gal. per minute circulate through and heat the
water pa~3i~g through by one degree. They will heat 20~000 gals~
of water in 8 hrs. by a total of 6 degrees. Since operating with
3 panels, ~or the past 6 years~ I have saved about 300 to ~0. dollars
per year on propane heat.
