English Abstract

74809-1
ABSTRACT
An erected vertical teeth portion of the main body of
the adhesive tape cutter has a keeping portion which is formed
in the material of the main body in a direction of horizon.
There is a gap between the erected vertical teeth portion and
the keeping portion bent transversely in parallel with the teeth
portion. A free end of the tape is inserted through the gap and
the free end is kept there, so it is easy to pinch the free end.

2074199
SPECIFICATION
ADHESIVE TAPE CUTTER
Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to an adhesive tape
cutter adapted to be used to an adhesive circular tape.
Adhesive tapes made of cellophane have been widely
used in home and office, and it seems that the demand of
such adhesive tapes will increase. Accordingly, production
of adhesive tape cutter used to cut the adhesive tape at
a suitable length and hold it before next dispensing of the
tape will increase.
Prior Art
Almost all cutters have been taken off from the circular
cellophane transparent tapes and abandoned, since the conven-
tional cutters have problems. When adhesive tapes such as
cellophane tape, vinyl tape, craft tape, and fabric tape
are cut in their some length, cutters or holders applied
to the circular tapes apt to slide on the non-adhesive slippery
face of the tape along a direction pushing down the free
and erected end portion peeled off from the tape to the non-
adhesive face. As a result, the free adhesive end sticks
on the non-adhesive face of the round tape. Consequently,

207~199
the free end of the tape, in particular, of transparent is
difficult to find and peel off from the non-adhesive face
of the tape.
It seems that about sixty percent of such tape cutters
have been discarded and the circular tape has been applied
onto different big and heavy tape cutters of a stand type.
As a result, users in home and office must go to the place
at which there is the big and heavy tape cutter.
` The purpose of the present invention is to provide
an adhesive tape cutter integrated to the circular light
tape.
Brief Description of the Drawings
FIG 1 is a perspective view of the tape cutter
according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
FIG 2 is a perspective view of the tape cutter shown
in FIG 1 after it is applied to a round tape.
FIG 3 is a perspective view of the tape cutter
according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
FIG 4 is a sectional side elevation of the tape cutter
according to the second embodiment.
FIG 5 is a sectional side elevation of the tape cutter
according to the third embodiment.
Embodiments
According to the first embodiment shown in FIG 1 and

`~ 207~1~.9
FIG 2 of the present invention, a tape cutter 2 is applied
or fits onto the circular tape 4 through bottom or side opening
of the cutter and portion(s) of the cutter are forward bent
leaving a gap or space between an erected teeth portion 3
of the cutter and the bent portions 1. Throùgh which gap,
free end or peeled-off end of the adhesive tape 4 is inserted
into the gap. In order to take out of the free end from
the circular tape, users pinch the free end and the teeth
portion of the cutter. When the free end is pinched by user's
fingers, adhesive surface of the erected free end of the
tape sticks to the finger, so it is very easy to pinch and
take out of the free end from the circular tape. After the
suitable length of the tape is cut by the teeth portion,
another free end of the tape is left in the gap formed behind
the bent portion(s) or keeper 1. If the cutter is going
to move down or backward, the lower end of the free end of
the tape will stick to the slippery surface of the tape,
being the cutter kept or held at a suitable position on the
tape. As a result, the cutter and the free end don't move
and the free end is kept always its preparation condition
to the next dispensation.
When width and size of the teeth portion 3 are determined
to that of a head or top portion of a finger of the user,
a free end of the tape will be pinched easily.
According to the second embodiment of the adhesive

2~7~199
tape cutter shown in FIG 3 and FIG 4, the tape cutter keeper
1 is made in a shape of box-like. When a portion of the
tape 4 is pulled out of the circular tape, a free end of
the tape sticks to a top of the erected teeth cutter 3 after
cutting.
FIG 5 shows the third embodiment of the adhesive tape
cutter, in which the tape cutter 2 has a dent or down-curved
surface 6. In order to pull the free end of the tape, first
the~ user pushes the adhesive upward-facing surface of the
tape to the down-curved surface 6 of the cutter ~ and the
tip of a finger surely sticks to the adhesive surface. When
the finger moves upward, the free end is elevated together
with the fin~er, so it is easy to pinch the free end with
fingers.
