A pair of spectacles or a spectacle frame has holding side pieces
hingedly linked to the frame for the spectacle lenses. The
holding side pieces can swivel from an initial or rest position, in
which they lie on the frame for the spectacles lenses, into a
deployed work position. Each holding side piece is designed at its end
which is linked to the frame for the spectacle lenses as an
element of a hinge joint which can be directly coupled to a
corresponding reception element of the frame. These parts may be coupled
to each other without using aids or tools.

Patent Claims:
1. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames with bows attached to the lens
frame in an articulated fashion, said bows able to be swiveled into
a swung-out working position, from an initial or rest position in
which the bows are placed against the lens frame, characterized by
the following, that each bow is configured, at the end which is to
form a joint with the glass frame, as an element of an articulated
joint, which element is able to be coupled directly with the cor-
responding receptive element of the lens frame, whereby these parts
are able to be coupled together without the application of auxiliary
means or tools.
2. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to claim 1, characterized
by the following, that on the lens frame, a bore, or something
similar, enabling a joint to be made with one of the bows, is
provided, each to serve as a bearing bushing for a bearing pin,
built into or fitted at the end of the bow as a pivot pin.

3. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to claim 1 or 2, charac-
terized by the following, that bearing pins and bearing bushings are
designed in the manner of bayonet fasteners or bayonet plug-and-
socket connections with limited rotation or swiveling capability in
the assembled state.
4. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to claim 1 or 2, charac-
terized by the following, that one end of the bow is designed in the
manner of a collar or also of a threaded bushing, or is fitted with
one of these, which can be screwed onto an extension of the lens
frame configured as a pin or an extension designed in the manner of
a threaded pipe end, or onto a threaded pipe end formed on the
frame.
5. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to one or several of the
claims 1 to 5, characterized by the following, that in the case of
the frame being constructed of synthetic material as a unit with the
lenses, it is designed to be strengthened especially in the vicinity
of the side edges, and that in the strengthened part it is provided
with bores with their axes running approximately parallel to the

plane of the lens frame, into which at the same time pins, fitting
these bores and formed on the bow, can be inserted, which pins on
their free ends protruding beyond the bores, each has a radially
projecting extension, which during insertion of the pin can pass
through a slot, groove or something similar provided on the inside
circumference of the bore, and afterwards is rotatable when in an
operating position, in which position the pivoting region, necessary
for the pivoting of the bow, of the extension which forms an axial-
displacement safety catch, lies outside the open region of the slot
at the front side.
7. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to one or several of the
claims 1 to 6, characterized by the following, that on the circum-
ference of the pin, bumps or ribs are provided, which, in conjunc-
tion with the slots or grooves or something similar on the inner
circumference of the bore, define rest positions for the bows and,
in the region between, generate a braking effect.
8. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to one or several of the
claims 1 to 7, characterized by the following, that for eyeglasses
with split lens frames, the clamp screws for the frames extend above
the associated clamp blocks and that a threaded collar of the bow
can be screwed onto this extension.

9. Eyeglasses to eyeglass frames according to one or several of the
claims 1 to 8, characterized by the following, that on one of the
pieces which are to join together, a helical bent tubing is
provided, into which a corresponding helical bent wire extension
of the other piece can be introduced by rotation around the axis of
the helix.
10. Eyeglasses or eyeglass frames according to one or several of the
claims 1 to 9, characterized by the following, that the frames them-
selves serve as stops, besides special stops for the folded-out rest
position, for the limiting of the swiveling motion of the bows,
whereby this stop, used for the assembly of the parts, can be over-
come and disengaged, as a starting point, by means of a design of
the bows which allows flexing over a certain range.
