English Abstract

" This tool is used for the cleaning of clumping
type cat litter also the transportation of small pets.
It consist of three interacting structures. A barrel
type structure which rolls counterclock wise when clean-
ing the litter and also converts to a carry type housing
when transporting small pets. Clean litter is also stored
in this barrel type structure. A rolling type structure
used to hold the barrel type structure in place when being
used by the cat and assist in helping to roll the barrel type
structure when cleaning. A three leveled screening tray
used to collect all the waste particles during the cleaning
process.
The barrel type structure is placed on the rolling device,
the lower section of the barrel type structure is then filled
with two inches of clumping type cat litter. When it comes
time for cleaning , the screening tray is inserted through
a opening in the barrel type structure and the barrel type
structure is rotated counterclock wise. As the barrel structure
is being rotated clean litter passes through the three level
screening tray. When the barrel type structure is completly
inverted only waste is traped in the screening tray , which
is then removed and the waste discarded. The barrel type
structure is then returned to its orginal position. Clean
litter falls back down into the bottom portion of the barrel
type structure and is now ready for use by the cat.
When transporting of a pet arises the upper portion of
the barrel type structure is removed from the lower portion
which stores the cat litter . The screening type tray is in-
serted back into the barrel type structure which now becomes
the floor of the barrel type structure and can be used to trans-
port a small pet.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

"the embodiments of the invention in which an
exclusive property or privilege is claimed are
defined as follows;"

1 A MANUALLY OPERATED TOOL FOR REMOVING WASTE PRODUCT FROM A
LITTER CONTAINER USED BY SMALL HOUSE HOLD PETS SUCH AS CATS AND
OTHER SMALL ANIMALS. COMPRISING A BARREL SHAPED CONTAINER, A THREE
LAYERED REMOVABLE PERFORATED RETAINING TRAY, A ROLLING DEVICE.

2 A TOOL AS DEFINED IN CLAIM 1, IN WHICH THE BARREL SHAPED CONTAINER
IS USED TO STORE THE CLEAN CAT LITTER WITH ACCESS INTO THE BARREL BY
WAY OF A SMALL OPENING AT ONE END.

3 A TOOL AS DEFINED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2, IN WHICH THE THREE LAYERED
PERFORATED RETAINING TRAY HAS THREE FLOORS SEPARATED BUT HELD
TOGETHER AT THE FOUR CORNERS. THE TOP OR FIRST FLOOR HAVING THE
LARGEST HOLES AND THE BOTTOM OR LAST FLOOR HAVING THE SMALLEST
HOLES. A HANDLE AT ONE END USED FOR INSERTING OR REMOVING THE TRAY.

4 A TOOL AS DEFINED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2 OR CLAIM 3, IN WHICH THE
ROLLING DEVICE ACTS AS A SUPPORT UNDER THE BARREL TYPE STRUCTURE
AND AIDS IN THE MANUAL ROLLING OF THE BARREL TYPE STRUCTURE.

A TOOL AS DEFINED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2 OR CLAIM 3 OR CLAIM 4 IN
WHICH WHEN USED IN COMBINATION PERFORM A UNIQUE OPERATION AND A
EFFECTIVE METHOD OF SEPARATING WASTE PRODUCT FROM CLEAN CAT LITTER.

Il Thi~ invention relate~ to a manually operated tool
used to ~eparate waste product from clean cat litter and
converts into a housing u~ed to tra~sport ~mall pet6."

" It is common i~ device6 for cleaning wa6te product from
clean clumping type litter to be~d down for long period
of time ~hifting through the litter with ~ome ki~d of ha~d
held tool to remo~e the clumps of wa~te. Thi~ procedure is
very time con~uming and a great deal of care must be take~
to en6ure proper cleani~g. Cleani~g devices of thifi natur~
~re very mes~y and the litter box i5 never properly clea~ed.
Searchin~ ~or wa~te by thi6 method cause6 the clumpfi of
wa~te to crumble a~d ~et mixed back into the clea~ litter.
Small particles of wa6te product are over looked a~d the
litter bo~ i6 left with poorly cleaned litter, which add6
to unwanted odor~ and germs which compou~d. Device~ o~ thi6
ki~d are u ually square in ~hape and require heavy lifti~g
to remove the cat litter 60 the box it~elf can be clea~ed
of uri~e 6tai~s a~d 6tool wa~t~,whic~ 6tick to thd bottom
of the boY. A~ a result of p~orly Reparated wa~te from the
clean cat litter many time~ clea~ litter get~ di6carded with
the wa~te. Because,thi6 type of clea~ing i6 ~0 involY~ a~
adult must take on the respon~ibilty Qf the pet ow~er which
is usually a child. People with back problems fi~d it very
~training to bend over for long period~ of time a~d ~eldom
are able to pour out the litter from the ~oY to give it a
proper clea~i~g.A separate housing i~ uQually u~ed whe~
tra~sporti~--the pet. This adds to the over all c06t i~volved
wit~ ow~i~g a ~mall pet.~ ~

"I have found that these disadvantage~ may be overcome
by making a litter bo~ that i6 barrel shaped and when rotated
counterclock wise allows the cat litter to pass through a
tray which has three floors of perferated holes going from
larger to 6maller ones. As the barrel is rotated o~ its roll-
ing device the litter falls freely onto the screened tray
allowing only the clean litter to pass through it6 hole~.
The barrel type litter container i6 easily rotated by a
young child or adult. When the barrel 6haped litter bo~ is
completly inverted the bottom can be easily cleaned. After
the tray is removed and the waste discarded the barrel type
structure is returned to its orginal position. This method
of separating waste from the clean litter is quick and the
litter is thoroughly cleaned of any waste. Because of the
easy removeal of the bottom portion of the barrel shaped
container all stain6 re~ini ng can be washed away making for
a cleaner, odorless, germ reduced enviroment. "

" The rolling barrel type litter container illustrated
in figure 1 6how6 the ~creening tray in~erted and labled
2 . The rolling barrel 6its on the rolling device, here
labol~d4 and as~i~t in mAk; ng rotating the barrel type
container ea6ier. The cat entrance to the litter container
i~ labled 3 . In figure 2 the separating of the waste
product from the clean litter ha6 beg~. The rotating
barrel-type structure is turned counterclock ~i~e and a~ it
~otates clean litter begins to fall through the ~creening
tray labeled 2-~I~ figure 3 the barrel type ~tructure i6
totally inverted, clean litter ha~ completely pa~sed throug~
the 6creening tray and rest in top portion of litter barrel
here labeled 9. Now the screening tray labeled 2 i~ ready
to be re~sved and the wa~te discarded. The barrel type
litter container i6 now ready to return to it6 orginal
po~ition. Figure 5 illu6trate~ the barrel type container
without the bottom portion and with the screening tray
inserted. Now the screening tray acts a6 a floor for the
transportation of a sma~l pet.

clumping type litter 6hall be defined here as
a fine sand like litter with granule6 not mea6uring
more than 1/16 of an inch in diameter.
