English Abstract

Autonomous device for the production of heat energy,
essentially characterized by its being made up of a container
made of cardboard or similar material, containing a ratio of
between 60% and 70% of calcium oxide and 30% to 40% of
potassium carbonate, which container presents an external
cover made of highly absorbent material, apt to be thoroughly
wet by water slowly transferred through the container wall
towards its inner portion, causing the hydration of the
calcium oxide and its transformation in calcium hydroxide,
with the resulting heat energy production, which is regulated
and dosed by a percentage of potassium carbonate, in order to
provide a slowly rising and falling temperature, over a long
period of time, usable as warming means.

DESCRIPTION

This patent specification refers to an autonomous device for
the production of heat energy.
This invention refers to the conception of a device that
constitutes a heat production potential that may be carried
by the user, and which may furthermore be activated at a
chosen time to achieve a high and long lasting temperature,
lQ usable for multiple applications such as, for instance: in
domestic applications, as a device to warm beds, clothes, and
water; in open air sports and events, to compensate for low
environmental temperatures; and in other applications or
activities, such as medicine, to combat rheumatic affections,
1~ arthritis, otitis, muscular pains; when camping; and in
nautical activities, long stays out in the open, under cold
climate conditions or at night, etc.

In general terms, the device object of this invention is made
up of a container made of not very permeable material of
approximate size 9 x 18 cm and a weight of 180 g, containing
inside it potent chemical compounds that, in the proper
proportions, react by hydration generating heat energy that
is used for multiple applications, such as the ones listed
above. The container includes means conceived for slow and
continuous water supply, in order to achieve a long lasting
heat energy supply. Its evolution starts off ambient
temperature to rise, with a gradually greater gradient, up to
90C, reaching its maximum temperature after approximately
100 minutes, when it then starts to descend smoothly until
reaching human body temperature, something that does not take
place until after a period of four hours from its initial
activation.

The ingredients are not cont~m'n~nt nor do they have to be

taken out of the container at any time to perform their
function.

In order to facilitate the explanation, this patent
specification is accompanied by a drawing sheet showing an
execution of the invention included as an example.

In the drawings:

lQ Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, partially cut
away to show the various layers making up its structure.

Figure 2 corresponds to a side view of the device, as per the
previous figure.
~eferring to the figures, in its execution may be observed a
device conceived for the production of heat energy at a user
chosen time, made up of a container -1-, preferably made of
cardboard, externally covered by a layer -2-, made of very
~Q absorbent, chamois-type material, and by a plastic wrapper -3-. Inside the container itself, -1-, there is calcium oxide
in proportions of between 60% and 70~ and potassium carbonate
in proportions of between 30~ and 40~, these products being
marked as item -4-.

Its operation is as follows:

To activate the device, the chamois or highly absorbent
material layer -2- is thoroughly wet with water, so as to
achieve a slow transfer of water through permeability
absorption from the outside to the inside, through the
material (cardboard) making up the container -1-. This water
supply produces the hydration of the calcium oxide and its
transformation to calcium hydroxide, with the resulting
creation of heat energy, which is regulated and dosed by the

presence of the potassium carbonate in the proper percentage,
which makes possible the use of the heat energy so generated
as a long lasting autonomous heat producing source.

This patent, within its own essentiality, may be put into
practice in other manners of execution differing in details
from that mentioned in the description given as an example,
and which shall be similarly covered by the protection
sought. It may, therefore, be manufactured in any shape or
size, and using the most appropriate materials, due to all
such applications being covered by the spirit of the claims.
