English Abstract

Installation of hot water radiators in order to reduce consumption on electrically heated
units by becoming a secondary heat source by using existing domestic hot water piping
and recirculating line.
The logic to use these pipes because more than 90 % of the time these pipes are available
to deliver heat.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

Claims
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed
are defined as follows and shown on attached drawing:
1. Method of connection at point B.
2. The addition of recirculating pump.
3 a

3. The use of the flow meter on the main line to establish the domestic hot water load so
the automatic control could achieve an inversely proportional relationship between the
domestic hot water flow and the flow for heating.
4. Method of pipe insertion inside the baseboard.
5. Method of connection at point C.
6. Simplicity of on site installation.
7. Alternative method to give priority to domestic hot water demand.

Description

Note: Descriptions are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

~ I~75 Z~ -

I,~L
The primary objective is to reduce electricity cost by reducing the usage of electrically
heated units in each apartment in an economical manner..
This concept can be done by circulating 140 deg. F. domestic hot water through radiators,
which can produce ~ 500 Btulhr of heat per linear foot, during no demand
time.
Disclosnre of the Invention
My concept is to reduce energy cost by reducing the usage of electrically heated units.

7~2~
A first ~ l,. ' of the invention is to connect a new copper pipe into the existing
domestic hot vvater in each apartment and circulate 140 deg. F. domestic water.
Connection to be made as follows:
1. Is the domestic hot water supply.
2.&5 Is the return from baseboard heater.
3. Is the supply to the baseboard heater.
4. Delivery to the kitchen sink. Distance between A & B to be minimum 6 inch.

A second ~"l~ c ' ' of the invention is the installation of a new circulating pump on the
new connection to supply heat, the pump is a low voltage type i' ".~, controlled.

A third .,..ll,oJ;..,~ of the invention is the flow for heating to be inversely ~, UpUI ~;ulldl to
the domestic hot water flow, given priority to the domestic hot water load.

A forth embodiment is the immersion of the return line 6 inside the heater 7 as shown to
increase heat exchanger efficiency by creating turbulence inside the heater 7.

~1~7~25
A fifth l~o.l; .l is piping method as shown at point C for supply and return connection
a simple method to save time and increase efficiency .
12 is the thermostat . 8 is the circulating pump.

A six ~ lbU '- ' is the simplicity of an on site installation the whole system to be
packaged at the factory .
The only site installation is comnection at point B and conmecting 4 to 11 and connecting 5
to 9.

A seventh ~III,o.li~ is to use a pressure switch or fiow switch on the line of the
domestic hot water and in case of demand the switch will shut the circulator off
