English Abstract

A simple tool which sets a golf cup into a golf hole. The golf cup setter is the same
size as a regulation golf hole. The golf cup setter, having an enlarged diametercylindrical section which pushes equally on the golf cup rim, promotes a levelled
placing of the golf cup in the golf hole. The elongated shaft that fits into the base of
the cup centers the cupsetter by using the flag holder as a guide and pressure point.
The combination of the enlarged diameter cylindrical section and the elongated shaft
provides equal pressure thereby pushing the cup into a levelled position in the golf
hole. The cupsetter is then removed.

French Abstract

On retire ensuite l'outil.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the game of golf. More particularly, the present
invention relates to a golf cupsetter that has a new way to install a golf cup while
maintaining the regulation size golf hole.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
To prepare natural grass golf greens for play, the greens are cored with an auger to
create a regulation 4.25 inch diameter hole. A metal or hard plastic cup is typically
inserted to preserve the shape of the hole and to hold a flag. The cup is generally set
about 1 to 1.5 inches beneath the grass surface leaving a bare earth strip. There are
two main problems solved with this invention. Firstly, when a traditional cupsetter
is used it engages the cup by manner of a sleeve that partially slips into the cup. In
this process the cup is scratched and possibly cracked in a manner that is
undesirable. Such scratching of the inside of the cup can result in lower visibility
which could worsen a player's score and spectators viewing both on the course and
over television would now have difficulty seeing the hole. Secondly, this invention
would also contribute to reducing golf course maintenance costs. The golf cups that
have been scratched and/or cracked by the current tool on the market must be
replaced or repaired frequently. Therefore an important feature of this invention is
that there is no scratching of the golf cup as it is inserted into the golf hole. The
cylindrical section of the tool sits on the rim of the golf cup. This invention is able
to produce a golf hole which provides high visibility as well as maintaining hole
conditions and enhancing the performance of the golfer. Additional features and
advantages of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows,
and in part will become apparent from the description, or may be learned by practice
of the invention. The features and advantages of the invention may be realized by
means of the combinations and steps particularly pointed in the appended claims.
