A rear suspension for mountain bicycles includes a rigid frame pivot-mounted at its opposite extremities to a lower rear location on the front triangle of the bicycle and to a lower front location on the rear triangle of the bicycle. The frame thus allows relative movement of the two triangles with two degrees of freedom, and particularly movements within a portion of plane defined by the position of the two pivots relative to the rear wheel, by their spacing and also by the possible deformation of the spring provided between the two triangles. A leaf spring between the front and rear triangles may act as a system to cushion relative movements between the two triangles during impacts of the rear wheel with an obstacle, although it may also include a shock absorber and/or several springs.
ressorts.
