THERAPEUTIC LOTION
The present invention relates to a topical analgesic.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Discomfort from muscular aches and pains caused by stiff, sore or tired
muscles is an all too common occurrence. However, most currently available
topical analgesics consist mainly of synthetic chemicals which is undesirable inthese more environmentally conscious times. Furthermore, many of these
topical analgesics have a strong medicinal or menthol scent which may be
10 offensive to some individuals. Clearly, a topical analgesic consisting of natural
ingredients and having a pleasant scent is needed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
It is one object of the invention, therefore, to provide a natural topical
15 analgesic.
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a topical
analgesic comprising:
natural oil of peppermint; and
a solvent.
The solvent may comprise a lower alcohol, such as, for example, 2-
propanol.
The topical analgesic may include natural oil of rosemary, natural oil of
lavender, natural oil of fennel, natural oil of lemon, natural oil of cinnamon, and
natural oil of cloves.
Preferably, the topical analgesic consists essentially of:
0.05 -1.0% natural oil of peppermint;

0.05 - 1.0% natural oil of cinnamon;
0.05 - 1.0% natural oil of cloves;
40- 70% 2-propanol; and
30- 60% water.
More preferably, the topical analgesic consists essentially of:
0.12% natural oil of peppermint;
0.12% natural oil of rosemary;
0.12% natural oil of lavender;
0.12% natural oil of fennel;
0.22% natural oil of lemon;
0.22% natural oil of cinnamon;
0.22% natural oil of cloves;
55.6% 2-propanol; and
43.2% water.
Thus, the topical analgesic consists entirely of natural ingredients and
20 has a pleasant scent. The scent of the topical analgesic may be varied by
varying the combination and concentrations of the above-mentioned
components .
According to a second aspect of the invention, there is provided a topical
analgesic comprising:
natural oil of fennel; and
a solvent.

0.12% natural oil of lavender;
0.12% natural oil of peppermint;
0.22% natural oil of lemon;
0.22% natural oil of cinnamon;
0.22% natural oil of cloves;
55.6% 2-propanol; and
43.2% water.

Formula Example 2:
0.12% natural oil of rosemary;
0.12% natural oil of lavender;
0.12% natural oil of peppermint;
0.22% natural oil of lemon;
55.6% 2-propanol; and

43.2% water.

Formula Example 3:
0.12% natural oil of rosemary;
0.12% natural oil of lavender;
0.12% natural oil of peppermint;
0.22% natural oil of cinnamon;
55.6% 2-propanol; and
43.2% water.
Formula Example 4:
0.12% natural oil of fennel;
0.12% natural oil of peppermint;
0.22% natural oil of lemon;
0.22% natural oil of cinnamon;
55.6% 2-propanol; and
43.2% water.
The formula examples are prepared as follows. The natural oils and 2-
propanol are mixed together. Next, boiled water is added and the mixture is
allowed to stand for several days. The mixture is then filtered and bottled for
later use.
In operation, the user applies the mixture topologically to the afflicted
area and then proceeds to rub or massage the mixture into the afflicted area.
The mixtures provide relief from muscular aches and pains such as stiff, sore ortired muscles. Furthermore, it is of note that the mixtures have a pleasant

scent. As a result, the mixtures may have the added benefit of promoting
general relaxation of the user, thereby providing further relief.
In alternative embodiments, the combinations and concentrations of
natural oils may be varied somewhat to vary the scent of the mixture.
Since various modifications can be made in my invention as herein above
described, and many apparently widely different embodiments of same made
within the spirit and scope of the claims without departing from such spirit andscope, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification
shall be interpreted as illustrative only and not in a limiting sense.
