claims
1.) Grinding disk for grinding, and deburring (whetting)
cutting tools with a driving pin(6) which is connected at
one end with the grinding disk, and with its other end
fitting into the drill chuck of a hand gun drill,
characterized by the fore surface(2) having been eroded
(slightly roughened)(10).
2.) Grinding disk for grinding, and deburring (whetting)
according to claim 1.) characterized by small edged slots
worked into the border which is turned down in shape of
a cylinder jacket, over the whole breadth of the
border surface.

D ~
The invention refers to a grinding disc for grinding and d~ (wh~tlil g) of culting tools, with a
driving pin (6) which is c~h~ d by one end to a plate-shaped abrasive disc (1), and can be inserted at
the other end into the drill chuck of a hand drill. Such pl~t~ e' . ' 8~inding disc is dbsc-il)ed in the D~-
PS 35 16 474, and in the EPS 0459 138.
Former state ofthe art in case ofthe above m'rlti(~ grinding discs (1) with hard polished fore sur~ce
and stick-on abrasive paper (4) is an exactly straight p- li~ of cutting tools up to a ~ ~;' value
of O.25 MNh without burning the tool and ~ lth.g (del.~ g) it at the plastic edge within 30 seconds
as sharp as a r~or blade.
1~ however, the grinding paper has to be changed or renewed~ it clings so much to the polished surface,
that it can only be removed ~IL~ ~ 11y piece by piece. While doing this the polished surface will
often be :' ~ ' The point ofthe i~ ;l tiOII was to avoid the sho vn defects with a grinding disc ofthe
above rnentioned kind.
The task has been resolved by slightly ro~ .n;~ the whole fore surface ofthe disk (2). The so formed
rninimal air cushions and the strongly reduced bonding points on the disk surface (2) make it possible
that the abrasive paper can be rernoved without damage as often as wante~ Since p~lisl~ g and
grinding is only possible with used abrasive paper (4), a cutting tool can no v be pl~,t~t~ with coarse,
fine or totally worn abrasiw paper, or ~ha~ ~d and polished with an exactly straight cutting edge in
one working cycle within the sho~test time.
At the same time the shape ofthe grinding disc was to be n~dified so that the time needed for
, would be .1;,..; .:cl~d by more than two-thirds. The solution to this task consists in
~l~at~llg as many small edged slots (11 +1 lA) as possible over the whole breadth of the border (3)
which is turned down into a cylinder jacket,
If a :~Lal ~~d tool, which of course has g~t a burr, is now held slightly upon the rotating edge (3) of the
disc (1), the burr will be ~ y shaved offai~er grinding both sides ofthe tool once or twice along
the border. The tool is as sharp as a razor blade wi~in four or five seconds, which rneans a saving of
time and wages. This system of grindirlg and S~ ulg can be applied in every place, even on
building sites, and it is also practicable for lm~l~illed staff. Both, lefc- and right-handed persons, can
deburr tools very fast.
