Title of the Invention
Prepaid card of damage insurance

Background of the Invention
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a prepaid card of
damage insurance suited to be used as a gift.

Description of the Related Art
The damage insurance is to compensate for the loss
caused by an incidental accident, and various new damage
insurances are presented recently depending on the objects
of insurance, such as accidents within school facilities,
sports accidents, accidents during volunteer activities,
and flight accidents. These damage insurances are often
combination of object damage insurance, human injury
insurance, and indemnity insurance, and the contract takes
effect only when the details of the insurance amount,
insurance period, insured amount payment condition and
others are specified and written in the insurance policy.
This kind of damage insurance tends to be unified and
formatted in the insurance contract contents, but it is not
easy for a layman to contract an insurance, and it was
necessary to fill in the complicated format by visiting the

insurance company or its agent. Therefore! if a person

wished to buy a damage insurance, it was not easy to
contract, and it was impossible to prepay the premium and
use as a gift to a third party. For the insurance
companies, hence, while promoting the formatting, it was
impossible to sell in mass.
The invention is devised in the light of the above
problems, and it is an object thereof to present a prepaid
card of damage insurance capable of contracting a damage
insurance easily, usable as a gift, and capable of selling
massively.

Summary of the Invention
To achieve the object, the invention provides a card
comprising an information memory unit for recording the
insurance type, insured amount, and insurance period, so as
to be used as an insurance policy when presented by the
buyer to the insurance company, and each card is sold in a
specified state by designating by symbol or number, but the
buyer is not specified when it is sold.
According to the invention, the damage insurance can be
contracted easily. Besides, it is not required that the
person playing the premium and the insured person should be
identical, and it can be used as a gift to other person,
and mass selling is possible.

Brief Description of the Several Views of the Drawings
Fig. 1 is a face side view showing a prepaid card of
damage insurance.
Fig. 2 is a back side view showing the prepaid card of
damage insurance in Fig. 1.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment
An embodiment of the invention is described by
referring to the drawings. Fig. 1 is a face side view
showing a prepaid card of damage insurance, and Fig. 2 is a
back side view of the same prepaid card.
This prepaid card 1 is a card used as both insurance
application form and insurance policy of damage insurance,
and the basic information of damage insurance is recorded
and displayed. An applicant is supposed to fill in the
columns of name, address, date of birth, telephone number
and others.
This prepaid card is prepared in every type of
insurance corresponding to different objects of insurance,
including physical loss during shopping, school accidents,
sports accidents, accidents during volunteer activities,
flight accidents, journey accidents, etc.
An example of a card covering a sports injury is
explained below.
This prepaid card 1 is a rectangular form made of hard

plastic material, and is easy to carry. The face side la
has columns for insurance type 2, insured amount 3, premium
payment 4, insurance period 5, number display 6, and
insured person's information including name, address, date
of birth and telephone number 7, and the back side lb has
columns for magnetic recording 8, insurance outline 9,
barcode 10, and insurance company 12.
The type display area 2 of the face side la shows
printing of "sports injury insurance card" indicating that
this card 1 covers a sports injury insurance. The insured
amount display area 3 prints the insured amount, and the
premium payment display area 4 shows that the premium has
been paid when this card is sold. For example, the amount
showing the paid premium is printed. When this prepaid
card 1 is purchased, if injured during sports activity, the
insurance company pays the insured amount according to the
indicated insured amount.
The insurance period display area 5 indicates the
insurance period from the date of application (that is, the
contract date of the insurance). For example, the period
of 3 days or 30 days from application is printed already.
The number display area 6 prints the number or symbol for
identifying this specific card, and each card is identified
with different number so that the card and the insured
person can be identified. The insured person's information

CA 02230~79 1998-02-2~

display area 7 is a blank area in this card, in which the
applicant (the insured person) can write the own
identification information, such as the name, address, date
of birth, and telephone number, in a permanent manner by
using ball-point pen or other writing tool so that the
information may not be easily deleted or altered. The user
fills in this column with the name and other information,
and reports to the insurance company together with the card
number specified in the number display area 6, and the
effect as the sports injury insurance takes places. This
column also has a space 7a for entering the authorization
number and date noticed from the insurance company when
filing for contract. This is an example of sports injury
insurance, but similar setting and display may be applied
in sports tool insurance or sports indemnity liability
insurance.
The magnetic recording area 8a of the back side lb
records information about the damage insurance, that is,
the type of damage insurance, insured amount, premium, and
insurance period, and the barcode area 10 records the
number information of this card. The insurance outline
display area 9 prints important matters about the content
of this sports injury insurance, and mentions cautions
about handling of the card. The valid term of the card is
indicated in an area 11, and the effective period of the

CA 02230~79 1998-02-2~

card itself, whether the insurance is contracted or not, is
indicated, and it is explained that the insurance contract
is not effective unless within the valid term. In the
insurance company display area 12 at the bottom, the name,
address and telephone number of the insurance company are
printed. Part or whole of the information indicated on the
back side may be also indicated on the face side of the
card.
At the insurance company, the same information as in
the magnetic recording area 8 and barcode area 10 of the
card is registered in the own computer, and when the card
number and name are reported from the user, the contract is
established by processing. In the event of an accident,
the user claims the payment of insured amount by presenting
the card, and the insurance company reads the magnetic
recording area 8 and barcode area 10 of the card by the own
computer, and confirms the insurance contract, and promptly
proceeds to pay the insured amount.
Thus formed prepaid card 1 is presented to general
users from the insurance company through its agents, with
the insured person's display area 7 in blank space,
together with the guide and policy of the insurance. In
this prepaid card 1, the person who pays the premium and
the insured person may not be always the same, but the user
fills in the insured person's information display area 7

CA 02230~79 1998-02-2~

with the name and others at the time of use, and reports to
the insurance company together with the name, card number,
starting period and others, so that the contract takes
effect.
This prepaid card 1 is formulated so that the specific
insured amount designated in the insured amount display
area 3 is paid after routine procedure when a sports injury
is reported, upon occurrence, to the insurance company by
presenting the prepaid card, so that application and
contract of insurance may be extremely easy.
Therefore, the prepaid card 1 may be handed over in
exchange for payment of the premium, so that it may be
handled as a gift at department store, convenience store or
the like. This prepaid card 1 is suited to mass selling,
and when various types of damage insurance are formatted
and sold, it may be applied in wide fields. More over, the
payment of premium is finished before actually contracting
the insurance, and it may be reported to the insurance
company when starting the sports activity or when boarding
an airplane. As a result, various types of damage
insurance may be utilized very easily.
