English Abstract

A disposable bag includes a pliable plastic bag body,
an elongated strip member, a releasable engagement
member, and two lateral side strip members. The bag
body has an open annular upper end for access into an
interior thereof, and an annular peripheral portion
that confines the upper end. The elongated strip
member is made of a material more rigid than the bag
body, and is disposed on an inner surface to form an
anchoring segment with right and left ends. The
engagement member is disposed on an outer surface of
the bag body and on the rear side of the anchoring
segment. Each side strip member is made of the same
material as the elongated strip member, and has a
proximate end forming a foldable juncture with the
respective end of the anchoring segment, and a distal
end. Each side strip member is of such a length that
when the distal ends are swung away from the anchoring
segment about the junctures, the distal ends will
stretch a front segment of the peripheral portion which
is opposite to the anchoring segment to enable the
front segment together with the anchoring segment to
retain a respective one of the distal ends at a position
substantially vertical to the respective one of the
right and left ends of the anchoring segment.

Claims

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

TITLE: DISPOSABLE BAG HAVING AN OPEN ANNULAR UPPER END
ADAPTED TO BE KEPT IN AN OPEN STATE
Field of the Invention
The invention relates to a disposable bag, more
particularly to a disposable bag for anchoring on an
upright wall . The disposable bag has an opened annular
upper end adapted to be kept in an open state for access
into an interior of the bag when the bag is anchored
on the upright wall.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In drawings which illustrates embodiments of the
invention,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a conventional
disposable bag;
Figure 2 illustrates how the conventional
disposable bag is used in an automobile;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a first preferred
embodiment of a disposable bag of this invention;
Figure 4 illustrates how the first preferred
embodiment is used in an automobile;
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a second p-referred
embodiment of this invention; and
Figure 6 illustrates the second preferred
embodiment when folded.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, a conventional
disposable bag 1 is used in an automobile to collect

- 2
rubbish therein. The conventional disposable bag 1
includes a bag body made of a pliable plastic material,
and has an open annular upper end 11 for access into
an interior of the bag body, and an annular peripheral
portion 13 that confines the upper end 11. An
elongated releasable adhesive layer 12 is disposed on
an outer surface of the annular peripheral portion 13
for mounting of the bag body on an upright wall of the
automobile, as best shown in Figure 2.
A disadvantage of the conventional disposable bag
resides in that the upper end 11 thereof is not always
disposed in an opened condition, thereby resulting in
inconvenience when placing rubbish into the bag body.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, the object of this invention is to
provide a disposable bag having an opened annular upper
end adapted to be kept in an open state when the bag
is mounted on an upright wall.
Accordingly, a disposable bag of this invention is
adapted to be anchored on an upright wall and includes
a bag body made of a pliable plastic mate-rial, an
elongatedstrip member, a releasable engagement member,
and a pair of lateral side strip members . The bag body
has an opened annular upper end for access into an
interior of the bag body, and an annular peripheral
portion that confines the upper end. The peripheral
portion has annular outer and inner surfaces. The

elongated strip member is made of a material more rigid
than the bag body, and is disposed on the annular inner
surface to form an anchoring segment with right and
left ends. The releasable engagement member is
disposed on the annular outer surface and on a rear
side of the anchoring segment . Each of the side strip
members is made of the same material as the elongated
strip member, and has a proximate end forming a
foldable juncture with a respective one of the right
and left ends of the anchoring segment, and a distal
end. Each of the side strip members is of such a length
that when the distal ends of the side strip members
are swung away from the anchoring segment about the
foldable junctures, the distal ends will stretch a
front segment of the peripheral portion which is
opposite to the anchoring segment of the bag body to
enable the front segment together with the anchoring
segment to retain a respective one of the distal ends
at a position substantially vertical to the respective
one of the right and left ends of the anchoring segment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring to Figures 3 and 4, the first preferred
embodiment of a disposable bag according to the present
invention is shown to be adapted to be anchored on an
upright wall of an automobile, and includes a bag body
3, an elongated strip member 34, a releasable
engagement member 33, and a pair of lateral side strip

members 35.
As illustrated, the bag body 3 is made of a pliable
plastic material, and has an open annular upper end
for access into an interior of the bag body 3 , and an
annular peripheral portion 32 that confines the open
annular upper end. The annular peripheral portion 32
has annular outer and inner surfaces.
The elongated strip member 34 is made of a material
more rigid than the bag body 3 , and is disposed on the
annular inner surface to form an anchoring segment
which has right and left ends 31A.
The releasable engagement member 33, such as an
adhesive layer, is disposed on the annular outer
surface and on a rear side of the anchoring segment,
and is adapted to be anchored adhesively on the upright
wall. Hook-and-loopfastening straps can be also used
for the engagement member 33.
The lateral side strip members 35 are made of the
same material as the strip member 34 . Each of the side
strip members 35 has a proximate end forming a foldable
juncture 35A with a respective one of the right and
left ends 31A, and a distal end 35C. Each of the side
strip members 35 is of such a length that when the distal
ends 35C of the side strip members 35 are swung away
from the anchoring segment about the foldable
junctures 35A, the distal ends 35C will stretch a front
segment 32A of the peripheral portion 32 of the bag

CA 02240562 1998-06-12
body 3 which is opposite to the anchoring segment to
enable the front segment 32A together with the
anchoring segment to retain a respective one of said
distal ends 35C at a position substantially vertical
5 to the respective one of the right and left ends 31A.
In the first preferred embodiment, the front segment
32A is of a length slightly shorter than the anchoring
segment.
Referring to Figure 5, the second preferred
embodiment of a disposable bag according to this
invention is shown to have a structure similar to that
of the first preferred embodiment, except that~the
second preferred embodimentfurtherincludesa plastic
flap 56 having a proximate longitudinal edge 56A heat
sealed to the anchoring segment 54, and a distal
longitudinal edge 56B distant from the proximate
longitudinal edge 56A bt a length that when the front
segment 51 is stretched, the distal longitudinal edge
56B can be pulled over the front segment 51, thereby
covering the front segment 51 after the bag body 5 is
mounted on the upright wall by the use of the releasable
engagement member 53.
As illustrated in Figure 6, when the side strip
members 55 are folded along the foldable junctures so
as to abut against the anchoring segment, the plastic
flap 56 will be exposed to an exterior of the bag body
5 so as to cover the upper end prior to discarding the

bag body 5.
With this invention thus explained, it is apparent
that numerous modifications and variations can be made
without departing from the scope and spirit of this
invention. It is therefore intended that this
invention be limited only as indicated in the appended
claims.
