English Abstract

A bicycle saddle that is adapted to accommodate man's genitals has an elevated
and slightly
forwardly, downwardly inclined rear section. A lower horizontal narrower front
section broadens
from a forward end rearwardly to the rear section and joins the elevated rear
section along a
generally vertical plane forming an angle of 90° thus providing enough
room to avoid contact of
the genitals with the lower front section. The saddle is supported by a
structure fixed to a seat
post. As additional features, a central cut-out located in the lower section
aims at decreasing the
weight of the saddle, and a slight concave groove located on the rear section
and oriented along
the longitudinal axis of the saddle aims at receiving the coccyx of the user.

Claims

Claim 1

A bicycle saddle adapted to accommodate man's genitals, said bicycle saddle
comprising:
an elevated and slightly forwardly inclined rear section with a rear edge, a
front edge and side
edges,
a lower horizontal narrower front section having a top surface and a rear
edge, said front section
broadening from a forward edge rearwardly to the rear edge, the front edge of
the elevated
section joining the rear edge of the lower front section across the saddle
with a generally vertical
plane forming an angle of 90° at the intersection,
the horizontal surface of the lower front section providing enough room to
avoid contact of the
genitals with the lower front section, and
said saddle being connected to a support structure fixed to a seat post.

Claim 2

The bicycle saddle of claim 1 characterized by a central cut-out located in
the lower front section
and extending rearwardly from a point near the forward edge to a rear portion
corresponding to
the intersection of the generally vertical plane with the top surface of the
lower horizontal front
section.

Claim 3

The bicycle saddle of claim 1 or 2 characterized by a slight concave groove
located on top of the
rear section and oriented along the longitudinal axis of the saddle to
accommodate the coccyx
when the buttock bones lie on both sides of the rear section.

DESCRI PTION
Background
Various bicycle saddles have attempted to alleviate pressure to the scrotal
region of a man's
body by incorporating a recess in a conventional saddle. None of those saddles
have provided
comfort comparable to the one offered by the saddle of the applicant's
invention as described
herein.
Descriaotion of the invention
A bicycle saddle is adapted to accommodate man's genitals by providing room
under the genitals
so that the genitals are not in contact with the front portion of the seat.
This is done by providing
a saddle with an elevated rear section on which the person sits and a narrower
horizontal front
section that has a top surface lower than the rear section. The fact that the
front section is
lower, this latter does not create pressure on the genitals. The front and the
rear sections are
linked together with a generally vertical plane forming an angle of 90°
at the intersection with the
horizontal surface of the lower front section. The saddle is connected to a
support structure fixed
to a seat post.
The bicycle saddle can also be characterized by a central cut-out located in
the lower section and
extending rearwardly from a point near the front portion of the saddle to a
rear portion
corresponding to the intersection of the generally vertical plane with the top
surface of the
horizontal front section.
The rear portion of the saddle can also comprise a slight concave groove
located on top of the
rear section and oriented along the longitudinal axis of the saddle to
accommodate the coccyx
when the buttock bones lie on both sides of the rear section.
Brief description of the figures
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the saddle and shows the generally vertical
plane joining the front
and the rear sections.
Figure 2 is a perspective of the saddle showing the generally vertical plane
joining the elevated
rear section to the narrower and lower front section, as well as the central
cut out located in a
middle portion of the lower front section.
Figure 3 is a front view of the saddle which shows the coccyx groove located
between two side
portions on the elevated section.

Figure 4 is a top view of the saddle with the elongated cut-out in the front
section.
Detailed description of the invention
The proposed saddle is adapted to be especially comfortable for man's
genitals. The bicycle
saddle 1 (refer to Figure 1 ) is supported by a support structure 2 fixed to a
seat post 3. The
saddle comprises an elevated rear section 4 with a rear edge 5, an inclined
middle section 6 and
a lower horizontal narrower front section 7. The rear section 4 is slightly
forwardly inclined as
shown in Figure 1. The front section 7 broadens from a forward edge 8
rearwardly to the rear
section 4. The middle section 6 joins the rear and the front sections 4 and 7
across the width of
seat with a generally vertical plane 10. An angle O of 90° is formed at
the intersection of the
generally vertical plane 10 and the horizontal surface 11 of the lower front
section. As a result,
this seat provides enough room to avoid compression of the genitals when a man
sits on the rear
section.
In addition to the above feature, it can be seen from Figure 2 that the
bicycle saddle can
comprise a central cut-out 12 located in the lower section 7 and extending
rearwardly from a
point 13 near the forward edge 14 to a rear portion 15 corresponding to the
generally vertical
plane 10.
The bicycle saddle 1, in addition to the above, can comprise a slight concave
groove 16 located
on top of the rear section and whose longitudinal axis is aligned over the
longitudinal axis of the
saddle to accommodate the coccyx when the buttock bones lie on both sides of
the rear section.
As a result, the rider's weight is supported by the two side portions of the
rear section and the
scrotum can hang without any pressure on it in front of the generally vertical
plane.
